I'm old and back in the day, when you were bad or misbehaved, I got the snot spanked outta me. Sometimes, I'd get a spanking from Dad just in anticiaption of an evil deed. lol

I think I got slapped on the mouth for acting snotty more than spanked. My mom was quick, there was no dodging it...never saw it coming. lol

Oh yeah!!! I didn't just get spanked. I got my butt whipped as it is referred to in the black community. I'm a black female and as with most black families we got whipped with the belt.
We didn't get hit with the hand and got little spankings. We got something you would remember. I have never been in time out growing. If I acted up I got my butt whipped plain and simple. And, most other black people I know can tell you similar stories as well. I do believe in spankings or whatever a person wants to call. I'm with you about being old and back in the day. That's what these kids need these days.

My Dad never hit me. But he hit my brother a lot! But I was also very well behaved. My Step dad Spanked me once. He caught me trying to eat cigarette butts when I was 5. (EW!) HE barely hit me, just a swat on the toosh to let me know that was a serious NO! My mother hit me twice. Once for my brother blaming his theft on me. ( I think I have already told you this story?) And again when I mouthed off to her at 16.
Basically my mother is a former Marine, so we did not cross her often. My brother more than me obviously.

spankings??? i got beatings.
my mom was great; but, my dad was from the country and he used to whip us with whatever he could get his hands on ~~ an extension cord (oh, the welps!), a leather belt (sometimes he would turn it TOWARDS THE BUCKLE!).
That's why i am a firm believer in NON-spanking of children! pain hurts!!

yea i got that and some of my friends got the belt...haha...we all turned out fine. theres a big difference between discipline and child abuse...
