"Freedom of the Press" gives you the right to print what you know, but it does not give you the right to KNOW anything!

The supreme court has ruled several times that your statement is correct. The press does not have special access to information. In my opinion, they should not have special access to information. If they can get access to something, anyone should be able to get access to it on their own.

On the other side of that, a government simply can not operate effectively without some secrets. Reporters should not have a right to access that information. Similarly, I wouldn't want anyone else having a right to my personal information.
