Well unfortunatley...people are rude. They discriminate and make fun of people that are different than they are. It happens daily and every second of the day. All we can do is teach our children better and maybe the future generations will be kinder.

----- A TEENAGER'S ViiEW OF THE WORLD ----------

Well I am A Teenager Currently, and I think the way that people look has a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEE impact in school.

If They are fat or don't wear orange make-up then to be honest they are doomed. If you start by not fitting in then there is no way you can fit in again like during the year.

I am quite fortunate to fit in and have the money to be able to buy nice make up and clothes but others don't and there-for they dont fit in and quite alot of the time get labeled a "tramp" or a "neek" etc.

I do think that this is a bad problem but some school's don't help the situation.... For E.G.

When there is own clothes days all the girls wear all really nice clothes ( i Wear Juicy Couture Top , Ugg boots, and D&G jeans.) However some people can't afford that and so they come in, in clothes that all the popular girls find "unattractive" or to be brutaly honest "ugly"
Even though, school's do have a Uniform Policy there are still thing that can make the popular & Pretty girls can stand out on......

For example the Bags, and Shoes. Other People have big rucksack bags and thats just not "the look "

I don't think it's a pahase I don't think any-thing can change this.

I dont know Why I typed all that - because I know no-one is going to read it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The modern world was shaped by His influence or at least by that of His followers and what they did in His name. The borders and shape of Europe especially is purely down to those that followed various religious groups that claimed to follow Jesus' teachings. Every single important and notable event in most Western people's lives is touched somehow by modern interpretations of Jesus' teaching and also almost all acts of law and ceremony are done in His name. In answer to your question though, in truth He had little effect on history per se, it is the actions and beliefs of His followers that actually did, whether this was truly in His name or in some blind version of His teachings is open to much debate. This question is really a far too broad a question to expect a student to answer for homework. Your teacher may be a little narrow minded in thinking that such a question could be a task that is reasonable and appropriate, either that or they are hoping that the answers will reveal an awful lot about the students and their backgrounds. This is a very interesting subject matter and it has got me thinking which is not something that I normally relish on a hot Sunday evening. Good luck with your essay!

Unfortunately, this question hurts to answer. If you don't have flawless skin or designer clothing or a knockout body, much of our society tends to judge you on it, and stereotype you. Because of what the media has set into the youth's minds, it hurts to be flawed. I personally am not perfect, and as a teenager, it's hard living in our world with people who care so much about what your hair or body looks like. It shouldn't matter if we are perfectly put together or not. It should matter on how we speak, how we act, and how we treat other people. It is up to the future generations of our world to change our stereotypical ways, otherwise the people who are being mistreated for the way they dress or look will suffer, and that is a painful idea to digest.

Looks have a huge effect on the way people are treated. Good looking people can get away with almost anything, which is annoying.
It would be better if we treated others based on their personality, but society is too superficial for that.

You say "modern society" as if the effect of "looks" has changed since the beginning of time.

5 minutes passed as I think about your question.

I'm a deep thinker and I get lost or stuck on "looks"
Do you mean like I give someone a dirty look
Do you mean physical attributes that can't be changed
Do you mean physical attributes that can be changed
Do you mean the way a person present themselves by dress or hair styles

I think that attractive people fare better in life in this modern society. Not only for the obvious reasons - they are more physically attractive and therefore have an easier time in relationships, but they are more trusted and respected. People are generally wary of ugly people, and there are lots of negative connotations associated with having less-than-perfect genes. So overall, I think people that are pretty and attractive are much better treated.

looks have a huge affect on how ppl are treated in society.
ex1) im 17...but i was offered to go into this hooka bar and have beer without even being carded....the thing is that...they don't invite ppl in unless they are attractive or showing some skin.
ex2) studies have even been shown that women who appear more attractive or sexy end up more succesfull in business bc they get more promotions.
ex3) if your the hottest girl at a party..you can be pretty sure that every guy who thinks he has a chance is gonna be making an effort to get your attention
ex4) if you walk into a designer store or car company looking like crap...they are not going to give you the same service that they would for someone who looks like they can afford the merchandise/car

and if your talking about race: well there are still upper class places that are racist.
ex) my sister is going out with an asian (which was kinda a shock for our family...but its her choice so wtv)...we live in greenwich, ct and they went to a resturant and they immediately offered her something, but not her bf.

I think they shouldn't have to play so much of part, but it does,on the television now days it's all about looking younger and getting rid of wrinkles for yourself, but also the way you are viewed in society and by others is what I think makes a big contribution to decisions,it's like to fit in now one must fit a certain image and look a certain way to fit in and if you don't look a certain way then you may be looked down upon for not keeping up and wearing what others do,also I think it's good to value your appearance, but your life should feel like it has to be based upon it and I think a lot of women that feel this way don't want to feel left out. Also looking 'better' or improving your image can mean you get more positive attention, which you can use to your advantage and play up to.

Too much, and it isn't right....And I speak so even if I'm usually considered a pretty girl and take great advantage from it sometimes (I always find somebody ready to help me with my suitcase when I travel, in shops if the owner is male I often get special discounts, or even gifts...). But the point is that I don't like the others to consider only my external appearance....I never do this....and I would like the others to do the same, even if it could mean fewer advantages...but I'm sure I would earn sincerer and less interested people around me...

Are you "actually" Gloria Thomas?
And are you going to answer questions and make use of your Y!A account like everyone else?

I don't think that looks do affect the way modern society works, but "good-looking" people get preferential treatment when it comes to friendships etc etc, other people have to build up their relationships and make it more stable.
