I found a website that has a detox/cleanse recipe called "The Master Cleanse". I am interested in doing this because I would like to change my lifestyle, including but not limited to, stopping smoking, eating better, and overall feeling better. I would like to know if anyone has done this, and if I should do it for the recommended 10 days or start with 5. A friend of mine has pledged to do it with me, but I am curious to see how if makes you feel afterward. In other words, is it really life-changing??

I've done it twice. I would not suggest it for weight loss as I gained back everything I lost. (Everyone is different, you might not gain it back...and would definitely benefit from the follow up diet they recommend.) But, that's not the reason I did it. I did it for the cleanse. I was having severe colon problems and the cleanse really helped get things working right again. But, you have to do the salt water flush, too. Some people think this part is optional - it is not! It is hard to stomach, so think about drinking salty chicken soup broth and it goes down much easier. The cayenne never bothered me. But, if you make drinks ahead of time don't add the cayenne in advance - it gets hotter as it sits in the drink. The hardest part for me was day #3. I savored every little lemon pulp that made it's way into my drink... Faced with the same problem, I'd do it again.

The website I found also had a bulletin board you can use to help you through the cleanse:

http://therawfoodsite.com/

I had a food allergy that got worse over the years before I figured out what was causing the problem. I read about and tried many things during that time to heal my colon. I liked Richard Schulze's Formula #1 & #2 colon cleanse. It really helped get things straightened out, too. A lot of things I bought off store shelves didn't help at all. Schulze's website:

www.800herbdoc.com

During my reading I read that cold sheet treatments can get one unhooked from cigarettes quickly. But, you need someone to help you do them. I read about it in one of Richard Schulze's books. If you don't see it on his web sight you could call and ask.

I also started taking Barley Green to heal. It gives me lots of energy. The best brand I've tried is Pure Planet. Definitely avoid the brands with fillers....

I think any of these things are life-changing if that is what you are seriously looking for. You'll have to put out a serious effort to change, but it's worth it! You've made a momentous decision & you can do it!!

In addition to what V just said above me, I think The Master Cleanse is great to do a "power" detox, I dont know if it is the plecebo effect but I felt very healthy and lost a few pounds, also gained some more energy.
After doing the cleanse I was put onto a natural colon and blood purifier that is a daily supplement. It is called prosit, no not prosac but prosit. It is from Africa and can be found in the UK or the US if you know where to look.
Search Google for cleanser and you should find it, I put the link below.
Good luck

My wife and I both did this and it worked really well.

The person who said that it's a "marketing ploy" is clueless, because you don't need to buy any special book or a product to do the cleanse. You buy lemons, syrup, and cayenne pepper at the grocery store.

The hardest part is getting through the first three days. After that, it's a piece of cake. Seriously, we decided to go one week longer than we were originally planning.

It helped break us of our addiction to fast food, and it has been much easier for us to be physically active and to eat more nutritiously ever since we used this cleanse to jump-start ourselves into a healthier lifestyle.

My one suggestion -- the cayenne pepper makes the lemonade taste nasty. You can get a bottle of cayenne pepper capsules at a vitamin store for two or three dollars and just take a capsule when you drink the lemonade. It makes the whole thing much more manageable.

Detox and cleansing are nothing more than dieting fads and marketing ploys. Your body actually cleanses itself naturally via digestion and elimination. I'm sorry, but drinking lemonade with pepper and syrup sprinkled in will not do anything for your health.

You will feel healthier simply by changing your diet around. eat light, like salads and chicken breasts and fish, and cut out sugar. You will be amazed how better you feel.

* I am actually not clueless. I am an RN in an eating disorder clinic. I know all about these things. *

If they want to charge you a bunch of money for psyllium husks, forget it and go get some at CVS.

If you really want a super enema try exlax... Its a lot easier on the body and much cheaper. Any else is waste of money.
