presence from the Mid-East. You withdraw any/all support for Isreal. You give complete control of oil (No U.S presence in any sense) to Mid-East powers. The response from Mid-East Islamic states remains "Convert to Islam or die as infidels" What is your next move?

Goldenrae: Yes, I agree it is entirely implausible. I purposely phrased the ? to be so. I believe it illustrates my point. WHAT will it take to resolve this situation, and WHAT do the Democrats believe they can do aside from such absurdities?

Democrat supporters: I am not hearing any responses or plans of action from you. As ridiculous as this scenario is, the ? remains: No matter what action the U.S takes, the Islamic response remains the same: Convert or die. I ask again, YOUR plan of action please.

Delphi: You are, of course, correct. It won't happen. But the attacks continue. YOUR plan of action please. Also, as I stated, partial withdrawls and so on do not satisfy. The attacks continue. YOUR plan of action, please.

Michael H: Yes, I am expecting "Islamic understanding day", or wear a Burka to school day (mandantory or be convicted of a hate crime) from the likes of Hillary or Pelosi. Think I'm joking...just watch.

Smile; I do see your point, and in part I agree. Again, I purposely stated this scenario in the extreme. However, I do see a viable threat whether from an official state or not. Perhaps, if so bolstered from a US Democratic regime, the Mid-East powers would form their Caliphat (spelling?)
and make their demands via "official channels".

Regardless of the person in office. They will never pull out the troops completely. And they can say convert or else as long as they like. It won't happen.

No one likes my plan but here it is. A cease fire for all factions needs to be called. A major sit down. Everyone must be heard. This will take time. I imagine it will take a month for the yelling, threats and insults to quiet down. I believe much can be achieved thru communication. I have never seen anything resolved by flying bullets etc. Many seem to think the insurgents can't be talked to. How will we know until we try.

there is no state making such a claim, terrorists are terrorists because they don't have any power, they don't have a state, just as the neo nazi's and kkk don't have a state. To answer your hypothetical.

If a leader who had an army said such a thing we would attack them. If some lone gunman says such a thing he gets arrested or if he's a serious criminal, killed if he won't surrender. Saudi Arabia is the only Islamic state and they're your best friends. I'm not sure how to answer, it all requires a total reworking of the state of the world and i don't see how twisting things to get an answer you want will help.

If these countries existed and they did such a thing............ Cut off all trade and relations, encourage the world community to do the same. Campaign against them, ie advertising and smear campaign to embaress them to the world. Defensive readiness and security for spies and such. Any of these little countries threaten us i'd use a small cruise missile on thier capital building. If they persist, up the ante to an embargo or blockade. Then they can either not force thier religious civics on others or starve to death. People will on occassion threaten you to do all manner of things from convert your religion to give them a dollar or even to like them (believe it or not). Rather than fight or run away the best acction is to just say kiss my azz because they are usually empty threats. You had 9/11, but that was 6 years ago and no one started getting loud saying anything about converting untill after it happened (when they were emboldened to talk trash). It's not even all about this religious war like the war makers would like you to believe. Think of the hype and trash talking before a boxing match, do you think any of that matters? Do any of these words matter? Do you think if they didn't talk trash the fight would be called off? Would he now not want the heavyweight title belt because the other guy was really kinda nice?

As far as I know, no Democratic candidate wants us to disengage completely from the Middle East (actually, the candidate closest to that position is Ron Paul, a Republican). And no Mideast Islamic state has ever ordered us to "convert to Islam or die." OBL might have said that, but he does not represent any country. So your scenario is pure fantasy.

That is exactly what would happen if we elect any of the ignorant democrats running for president right now.

If I were the democrat in your scenario, there would be but one option because the terrorists have told us and we don't want them to be upset with us.

CONVERT!!!!

NOTE to the implausible scenario: Why is it so implausible? Have not the democrat candidates said they would negotiate with these terrorists? Have they not said they would and have done much compromising to satisfy the rest of the world and the terrorists in particular? The liberal democrats of today have a very defined history of capitulation and when followed to its logical progression, this is the result. Therefore, it is not beyond plausibility.

Be afraid, very afraid!

That scenario is implausible and silly. Take some real perspective.

Edit: What we can do is reduce numbers, but we will still need to keep a force in their permanently as we have had similiarly in places like Korea. The mission should be changed to a more humanitarian basis (after all, we are nation building according to Bush and that's what humanitarian warfare is about).

No wonder your political choices are ridiculous. You have a poor grasp of possible future scenarios.

I've always held that Conservative vote out of fear ("Convert to Islam or die as infidels")
