Some people have found it very effective to relax their muscles and focus their attention on a specific object.
For example, if you were being tickled and you did not want to laugh, stare at a door knob as if it was the most important thing in the world. If the tickler tries to break your concentration with words like, "You know it tickles!!!! I am going to tickle you!!!! You can't hold it forever!!!", phase their words out and continue to stare at the object as if it was the most important thing in the world. If you are successful, you will not break and they Will stop tickling you because it is not fun to tickle somebody who will not laugh.
If they catch you off guard and make you laugh, it is still not too late to focus on an object and concentrate. Take some deep breaths (you cannot laugh and take deep breaths at the same time so force yourself to take the deep breaths) and then you will be able to focus.
Tickling should always be consensual and the tickler should always strive to keep the tickling fun for BOTH parties - not just the tickler.
Good luck!

Usually, because I see it coming ahead of time, which gives me just enough time to turn off the tickle sensor in my brain before it becomes overloaded. Now, if they sneak up on me that's a different story. Then they have to hit the strategic points swiftly that set off immediate overload of the tickle sensors and then I'm done for!

I know it sounds wierd, but if someone who I don't want touching me tries to tickle me, I don't laugh, I just cringe.
On the other hand, if it's someone I like, then no, I can't keep from laughing.

when I was a kid, my half brother and my aunt, both 2 years older than me, would "tickle torture" me by holding me down and tickling me till I screamed. I actually forced myself to stop being ticklish. It only worked if I concentrated hard. If they caught me off guard, I'd still get ticklish

I hate to be tickled, its creepy, I usually go on the defensive and block those feelings with a left, right triple swipe.

Now I can, for a while, but it has taken me years of practice to be able to do it; I'm very ticklish.
