They usually to check your chest when they asking you to cough. Make sure, your lungs are clear or any kind you might have? They have to listen inside your lungs while you cough.

docs are supposed to see...for any diseases(inspection)which means u must strip to waist if u are looking at lungs
feel (palpation) of any diseases signs.....
hear(auscultate) by using steths...earlier they used to apply ears to ur chest..a shy doctor invented the stethoscope..
knock at ur chest to see if sound is different at different parts...
like u can make out level in a beer drum big by knocking and seeing for any sound difference...so also in diseases...
these are the basic things they are taught..to do and must do...most docs do not do...
and any other things which he /she feels is relevant.........
they ask to cough to clear off secretions and sound becomes clearer...also sound of cough gives indication of some diseases..like whooping cough etc....
so go with ur doc they have seen enough nude bodies to be cool with it..and cadavers too

Dr Durden usually holds my breasts and asks me to cough, strangely enough he does that with his pants off. Weird doctors my Insurance Company makes me see.

They shouldn't be holding anything. They will have their stetehscope up to her chest (or back). They are listening to the lungs, not the breasts.

LOL .. Dr's don't ask ladies to caught they ask us to lay on the table and put our legs up in these metal stirrups so that your poor defenceless nush is exposed .. its HORRIBLE.. trust be bud you guys have it easy compared to us!!
