If you take a plane you will look out of the window, and maybe see Germany and Belgium or France, the sea and a tiny bit of England, if it is not clouded or dark.

Traveling by train you have several options, but the travel planner of the German Railways give a route via Paris as first option. You will have to change trains there, and stations, so it is easy to break your travel and stay a couple of days, that is, if you can spend the time.

Enter the names of the town, and the date you want to travel into this page, and see what it finds for you:

If you prefer it, here is the French travel planner, can be useful if you break your journey:

or an English one:

You can also travel via Cologne and Brussels, in that case you might want to check the times with the Belgium travel site:

Break your travel in that case, it does not like to find a travel starting and ending outside of the country.

Flying will be faster, and if you search for a cheap flight also cheaper, traveling by train gives you a better chance to see the area in between.
