My mother-in-law sure thinks she is, and her cooking sucks! Of course, she would probably say that my palate is just probably not as refined as hers. The ole hag!
I am a pretty good cook, but why is it that no matter how hard we try, our food just never tastes like grandma's?

lol I feel the same. My nickname though is Betty Crocker with my friends. I only say it because I was brought up to cook and have never had anyone diss my food and I make everything from scratch been cooking since the 2nd grade because my mom worked so much that I pretty much took care of my 3 siblings for awhile.
But I had a roommate that always said she was such a great cook. Well she would always burn hamburger and everything came from a box which isn't bad but don't brag about being this great cook when she never once made anything other than instant and you burn hamburger. The other roommate that year bought a crock pot and told me she needed me to teach her to cook. Two years later it was used once and now since it is red it is a decoration for her kitchen. People need to just be honest.

Oh, I have no problem admitting that I'm no five star chef!
My best friend and her husband think they're the best cooks ever and it drives me NUTS! The funny thing is, whenever me and my boyfriend go over to their apartment for dinner, they cook the exact same two meals every time! Wouldn't you think if they're such good cooks that they'd know how to do something DIFFERENT every once in a while?

I don't think I'm a "great" cook. I've been cooking since I was 15. I don't cook anything fancy, but I know I'm a "good" cook.

but I AM a good cook. Everyone loves my food. But then again, there's days that ~I~ wont even touch what I made, it's so disgusting. :) hehe
I absolutely hate it when people think they are great cooks, and make you something, and you end up gagging because its so nasty. Now for the people out there who really know HOW to cook, that gives us a bad name.
I know I'm a good cook with Lasagna, home made chicken noodle soup, home-made pizza, shredded beef sandwiches. cuz everytime I make it, my house ends up full of people :) now that's a good feeling. :)
But for most people, they need to just leave it up to someone else to cook, cuz god damn it's nasty.

I am a great cook, but I'm willing to admit when someone is better, like my mom for example.

I'm not great, but I am pretty damn good. I love to cook, but if I make something that tastes like crap I am the first to admit it.

LOL, it is a bit aggravating. I'm an okay cook. I know I'm no gourmet cook or anything, but I also know it's not the absolute best . . . .Except for my home-made spaghetti . . . It's pretty awesome, according to those who have tried it.
