OK, so doing my homework on all the pre-conception stuff (BBT, CM, ovulation etc etc) the one thing that still has my scratching my head is checking on your cervix. How can you tell what 'position' it's in (low, medium, high), texture (firm, medium, soft) and opening? And how does that all relate to fetility/ovulation??
Please educate me!

Actually your cervix should be SHOW when you are ovulating-soft (like your lips), high (you may not even be able to feel it), open (this is the most difficult to determine but you should feel a tiny hole or bump) and wet (egg white cervical mucus). When you are not close to ovulation or after ovulation it should be firmer (like the tip of your nose) and low (so it may be easier to find), closed (again really hard to determine) and dryer (but it may not be completely dry. I use my middle finger and usually check mine in the mornings. The first few times I checked it I felt like I didn't know what I was doing but after a while you start to feel the changes in it. So give it time. Also you may notice during certain times of the month sex isn't as comfortable. Well that is usually when you are not ovulating because cervix is lower and dryer (penis may actually be bumping into it) Best of luck ttc!!!!!!!!!!

Ok when you are just starting to check your cervix, i would suggest doing it a couple times a day. Maybe once in the morning and once at night. This will get you familiar very quickly with how your body is. I am assuming that you know what your cervix is, when you reach in there, you feel it. SOmetimes you have to reach really hard to feel it. Almost like you can barely touch it. That is when your cervix is high. This happens usually in the couple of days leading up to ovulation. After you ovulate your cervix will generally fall back down. It is easy to reach and it may feel closed. When it is high, you will more then likey feel that it is open.

I explained the best that I could but really you will just have to start checking yours to know how your body is. I always know that I am fixing to ovulate because mine goes up really high to wear i can barely touch it. Remember to wash you hands really good before and after so that you don't get an infection.

When you ovulate your cervix is high, soft and open, so that the sperm can get in. After becoming familiar with your cervix you will be able to tell the difference. It takes a while though.

Yeah, I never quite figured that out myself, I found it way to difficult to check mine. Maybe I just dont know my body well enough, or maybe Im not flexible enough, I just couldn't seem to figure it out.

I did all the other stuff though... BBT , OPK's and got prego just fine.... lost it at 6 weeks but I now know I can do it!!!

Good Luck!
