near where i live -in lincolnton NC there is a man who breeds wolf hybrids. they range from 25% wolf up to 90%,there are laws and regulations depending on where you live whether or not you can have one. check with the county. the prices range due to percentage, color etc - $300-$500 is what it was when i checked. in my county, they are legal, but you need a license and a 6 foot tall fence, that is at least 4 feet underground as well to prevent dig outs. the man reccomends going no higher than @60-75% wolf,as they are hard to deal with. the puppies are sweet, and can be trained - and are very loyal, but are distructive and can "turn". if you give them TONS of attention, and establish you are the boss, they can be very loving and loyal pets. the danger of them to others is high tho,so make a wise decision and be careful.

In some places you are not allowed to own or sell them.. Here you can own them but you can not rehome them.. so if you can't keep them they have to go to a wolf dog rescue.. (the dogs never leave there).. They also cost more to license ($75 a year here), and the fines if you don't license them or lie about the breed are really high.. The cost of training is also enormous.. they are stubborn, and not easily trained.. Pretty much you have to convince the dog that what ever you want it to do is it's own choice.. they are not easy to command.. 50%-75% is going to be REALLY hard to find.. and really not worth it unless you have kept real wolves at some point.. I have only met one that was 75%.. and he was gorgeous, but the guy had him on a thick chain and no one could come up on them unaware without the dog reacting.. That guy had worked with wolves before though.

You need to really thoroughly research this first.

Wolf hybrids can be incredibly destructive. Think of an adolescent lab on crack times 100. You'll need at LEAST a six foot fence and this may not hold him. Be prepared for dens to be dug all through your backyard.

Also it may be illegal in your area to own a hybrid.

A saner option would be to get a wolf-looking dog like a husky or a malamute.

Ask this in the pets section, and you'll probably get better answers. I know in my state you need special licensing to own a dog/wolf hybrid so you might want to look into that. Or better yet, buy a husky which is very wolf-like and sometimes have blue eyes.

Are you really ready for a wolf-dog? You have to get through a lot of red tape...

not sure, but i think a malamute is 50% and you can buy them easy enough if you have the money.
