America is an epic global battle with ruthless savages who seek our destruction, and liberals are feeling sorry for the terrorists!

Usually the nonsense liberals spout is kind of cute, but in wartime their instinctive idiocy is life-threatening!

These terrorists were picked up in the field of battle trying to kill our soldiers and you want to hire them Johnny Cochran???? Unbelievable!

Libs want to hand them back their guns and tell them to go kill more U.S. soldiers to make the Cons look bad.
I'm sorry, but after seeing people choose to jump from the twin towers instead of burning to death I just don't have any sympathy for those in Guantanamo.

If you are 30 years old or younger I would have reason to think that perhaps you OD on Star Wars instead of getting an education.

¨America an epic global battle¨??? Are you sure you aren't really a script writer for a Bruce Willis flick? If you are not then you have missed your calling.

I'm sorry if this answer is rude, sarcastic and dismissive but it is hard to take seriously the kind of affirmations you make above.

And yes,I would like to see Guantanamo prison shut down. I am a believer in the state of law and the existence of that place is an affront to our system and what we stand for.

How are we going to compensate the hundreds of prisoners that we are finally freeing(in a trickle) after years in captivity and who have never been charged with anything?

How can we expect people to believe that we are the best and fairest people in history(as I keep reading on this site!) with the most perfect system of justice.?

You know, we,the United States, were B- trying to be A+ but after Guantanamo,AbuGrahib etc etc we are D- and proud of it!!

Hey, woman! Why aren't you in uniform humping a pack in the desert? Hmmm? Seems you Bush-fellating heroes are real brave just as long as someone else does the fighting and dying. C'mon woman, the nearest Marine Corps recruiter is just sitting there twiddling his thumbs. Go make him earn his salary and sign up. Parris Island is a grand sight in the fall of the year!

I hope so. Then they'll ship the ******* down there to Jordan where the Jordainians will beat the information out of them. Did you hear about the detainee who was released from gitmo, went back to his home country and asked to return to gitmo because the conditions were so much better there than they were in his home country. This ought to give the libs such a warm, fuzzy feeling that they would want to open up 50 more gitmo's!

I think we can somehow reach a middle ground on the closing of Guantanamo. Once we get all the information we can from the terrorist slimbags that are held there, put them all on a boat, send it out to sea about 500 miles, and then sink the boat. Whoever makes the swim to safety, I guess it would be Allah's wish, but whoever doesn't, too bad. As far as closing down Guantanamo, we could do it incrementaly. First close it down to the libs and the other bleating heart testicle nibblers in the mainstream media. Close it down to them for 20 years and let's see how we progress from there.
How is that for a compromise?

I believe in the rights of the accused. I fight for their US Constitutional rights for a living. It's what I believe in.

I draw the line at enemy combatants. I know what our rights cost us as a people. I see it every day in the courts. These rights for the accused are COSTLY for our society. Because we want to keep our nation SAFE. But we uphold these rights because we want to remain FREE.

I have no problem with denying our US C rights to terrorists and those that aid them. They are abusing our freedoms and why should they then get them? Strange, these Liberals.

Yes. Then maybe those who did the search and rescue at the twin towers can get the medical help they need. You do know that those held at Guantanmo get good health care. All the while those that were on the scene in NYC are dropping dead and suffering with illnesses. AND NOT GETTING ANY HELP!

I vote mainly Republican and I think the prison there should be closed... a lot of conservatives lawmakers (like McCain and Hegel) have publicly said it should be closed.

Why are you targetting Liberals for this question? Are you implying that ONLY liberals want this done? You would be wrong then.

I'm a Democrat . . . I'm not sure if we need a complete shut down . . . The issue for me (and I'm sure others) is we need to address enemy combatant status under the Geneva convention. I don't think the GC was formulated to address this sort of war fare.

GITMO isn't the problem, prisoners of war should have
every expectation of being treated humanely (not
comfortably). POW'S of the US should be treated the
same as we expect our captured servicemen/women
to be treated (even (and I hate to say it) -- zealots
known as terrorists.)

Nobody is feeling sorry for terrorists. We are concerned about the people like you and me who are labled terrorists with no trial and stripped of all rights. Just make sure you've got the right people and make sure we keep our promises (Geneva Convention).
