1. How old were you when you started smoking? 18
2. Why did you start smoking [parents smoked/curiosity etc.]? Boyfriend smoked, so I tried it
3. Have you ever tried to give it up? Yes, several times
4. If yes, Why [pressure from friends/family, society etc], and how long did you go without smoking?
1) Wanted to quit smoking for my health - stress caused me to start again
2) Had to quit for a scheduled surgery - started back up again a few months later
3) Found out I was pregnant and quit again - miscarried and started up again
5. Has your health been effected in any way due to smoking? Can't breathe as well as I could when I didn't smoke, obviously
6. As cigarettes [or nicotine] are drugs, do you feel other drugs such as marijuana/cocaine etc. should be legalised? No, I don't think they should be legalized.
7. If yes, why? If no, why not? They impair judgment/actions and unless you confine yourself to a room - using those drugs could harm others too
8. Do you feel you should be able to smoke in public spaces rather than leaving a building just for a cigarette? I think smokers need to be considerate of non-smokers.

1. How old were you when you started smoking? 16 2. Why did you start smoking [parents smoked/curiosity etc.]? curiosity 3. Have you ever tried to give it up? several times 4. If yes, Why [pressure from friends/family, society etc], and how long did you go without smoking? I quit completely when I found out I was pregnant with my 1st child. Started back after a couple of months due to stress. Even though I didn't know it at the time, I was suffering from postpartum depression. Quit again with my second pregnancy. My daughter is 3 mths and I have not started again. Hopefully I won't. But it is a very powerful addiction. Even after a year, I still have cravings! 5. Has your health been effected in any way due to smoking? I believe I got sick more often when I smoked. 6. As cigarettes [or nicotine] are drugs, do you feel other drugs such as marijuana/cocaine etc. should be legalised? No 7. If yes, why? If no, why not? The drugs mentioned are so much more harmful. I'm not saying that smoking won't kill you, but it's just different. Marijuana is a gray area. It doesn't even affect the body in an addictive manner. Cocaine, heroin, etc. are all potentially lethal, highly addictive, and ruin lives. 8. Do you feel you should be able to smoke in public spaces rather than leaving a building just for a cigarette? Yes and no. I feel the new laws that cities and states are enacting to be "smoke-free" can be extreme. For example, bars should be fine. Office buildings, no. Basically, I look at it as a mother. Anywhere my child would be, should be smoke free. For example, I agree with the idea of laws that prohibit smoking in your vehicle with children. Ever looked over to see someone with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth and a child on their lap?!

1. About 15
2. Probably rebellion
3. Yes
4. Hate being a slave to the addiction and I know it's bad for my health. I went two months, three months and over a year.
5. I cough alot and I get out of breath much easier
6. From my libertarian position I would say yes. Don't think the government has a right to tell you what you can take into your body (as long as you don't endanger others such as driving while under these substances)
7. Oops, I think I answered this one in #6
8. Um, not in most public places. Bars and clubs are the only exception. It annoys me when non-smokers complain about breathing in second-hand smoke yet they drive their vehicles around pumping pollution out into the air and they don't say anything about factories putting out toxins in our air and water

1. 15
2. Influenced by friends, and curiosity
3. yes i have tried to quit smoking but then restarted again
4. because I am fully aware of the damage I am doing to myself but am afraid addicted!!
5. Not as yet (i am 25) but I dont like my hands hair and clothes stinkin of fags all the time. and my cough in the morning is gradually getting worse/
6. Although Fags are addictive and harm you, drugs like Marijuana and Cocaine have an effect that can be seen, off your head, shouts ramples, munchies, etc. This would have a bad affect on society and younger generations would use it because it was legal and mess themselfs up.
7as above sorry!!
8.Not really that bothered to be fair.
Your welcome/

6.our government has made a millions off these drugs, made deals and agreements with other countries. yes , I do, and tax it, as they do booze
7. the drug dealers, have gotten rich over the years, as with anything, if the need is there, they will find it and go to any lengths to buy it or trade for the drug,
8. through the years, myself, have never smoked in a non-smokers -home-car or where I deemed it not right. But I am a baby boomer, and resent government controlling our lives in any way.
just my thoughts, social security loves us over 50 gang that still smokes, the odds are against us to draw our S.S. checks or our pensions, they'd saved millions when we all drop dead of lung cancer or heart disease

1: was 15 when i started
2: Because most of my mates did
3: Have tried to give up about a dozen times
4:To try and improve health and to save money
5: Breathing has got worse, chest pains at times
6: drugs legalised never
7: we got enough problems on our streets without having young smack heads running around, also it would make these more easily available to children
8: I agree with the smoking ban to a certain degree, it can't be nice for non smokers to breathe in cigarette fumes and to smell of stale smoke, but i think there should be well ventillated areas in pubs and clubs where smokers can go and have a cig without being shoved outside in the cold.
