If an NCAA team has recruiting violations, they are not eligible for the tournament. What are your thoughts on doing something like that to the Pats for cheating?

No, because we would like it to be fair.

I don't think you can hold the NFL to the same standard as the NCAA. A forefit for this game makes no sense because you can't prove it helped them win. Besides the Pats got caught doing this in Green Bay last year. I think the best punishment would be to make the Pats ineligible for the playoffs no matter what their record for two years. This is similiar to what the NCAA does. On top of that some thing with taking away some draft picks and/or loss of rights to deal with free agent players. This penalty has to be harsh enough to make sure a team NEVER does it again and also show the players that the NFL is willing to punish "its" own for misconduct as well. So I guess I do agree with you on the not eligible part. I hope we are both right and this happens to be the punishment.

Interesting idea. If that was the case I could see New England being bared from the post season for 3 years.

That's equivalent to a team being on probation and not being eligible for the BCS. Remember how hard they came down on Auburn a few years back.

Nope, doesn't play to a level situation. If the Pats were breaking the SALARY CAP then you may compare the two. This is a different case then what would be a recruiting violation.

No, the season is too long and too much money would be lost. You would have the Pats tank the rest of there games in order to get the number one draft pick.

If found guilty of cheating, the punishment will probably be heavy fines. I would even be in favor of them having to forfiet the game they were caught cheating with the video in. You will not see them being banned though, it is big business and that won't happen.

Not all colleges are punished for their cheating. Example: USC.
