I cannot receive wireless in my laptop, but I do have an RJ-45 wired input (and it works fine). I am interested in a device to convert WIRELESS signals into WIRED for my computer. Some hotels have these and call them "bridges" but I cannot seem to located one. Any advice? Thanks

Look into Linysys's WET11 ... great device. I use it for my laptop and my XBox. Works awesome.

The closest device you would be looking for, that I can think of is called a range extender. Usually you can pickup a wireless signal on these and retransmit it. However, some come with RJ45 ethernet ports so that you can configure them as well as use the signal that its picking up through the wired portion. This should be what you're looking for. Also you can setup another computer with wireless to share out their wireless connection by creating a network bridge (if you search google for "site:microsoft.com network bridge" you should find a tutorial).

While PCMCIA wireless cards are cheaper and better than buying a range extender, be careful and make sure you read up on reviews. This is if you have PCMCIA slots on your laptop. I would recommend PCMCI wireless over USB because from my 5 USB wireless dongle experiences, they all stink comparatively.

This tutorial mentions what you are talking about.
I would really recommend going with a wireless card addition to your laptop, this will work much better than a bridge.
Hopefully your laptop has a PCMCIA slot for expansion you can use and just add a wireless add on device there, and that will solve your problem and give you a much easier to configure/maintain device.

Your best bet is to just buy a cheap PCMCIA or USB wireless card & call it done. Anything else, first of all, is going to be more expensive and secondly is going to be harder to setup.

I recommend any of the Linksys line of products, they're fairly inexpensive & great quality.
