Where would you rather be: on South Beach with bikini-clad women, dancing the night away or watching a 4th place team getting hammered in a sterile, quiet ballpark?
If you said the latter, get your pulse checked to see if you're still ticking!

Last year the Marlins had the worst attendance in the MLB, but their games on TV got more views than the Yankees. The Marlins, through their history, have been a very successful team. Last year what they did was incredible. However, without Joe Girardi this year they just haven't been the team that I predicted to win the wildcard this year. It's sad really, because with Hanley Ramirez winning the batting title, Miguel Cabrera having his best year yet, Dan Uggla hitting thirty homeruns, and Kevin Gregg playing like a competent closer, they're bullpen and starting rotation just can't win. I am a Yankee fan in South Florida, and no, I'm not a fair weather fan. However, I love going to Marlins games. It's really sad when you compare what they've done this year to what they did last year, almost making the playoffs.

For starters it's because there really aren't any real Marlins fans. There are way too many transplants for them to grab a fan base. Also, it was a bad place to put a baseball team. 3rd, they play in a football stadium.
And to those Yankee fans who say the Marlins suck, who did the Marlins beat in the World Series a few years back and not only beat but owned?

Bad team, bad stadium.
It's Florida. With so much to do, why sit in a ballpark watching a crummy team. I truly think that the fans were alienated back in 1998 or so, right after Florida won the World Series they got rid of everyone to rebuild. No attempt was made to repeat.
They won again in 2003, but did the same thing. Got rid of all their talent to rebuild, and so far they've stunk. That's why attendance is down. At least in my opinion.

because they are paying for the sin of buying off the 1997 World Series that the Cleveland Indians should have won. Then the Marlins had a fire sale. People talk about the Yankees buying titles but what the Marlins did was absolutely shameful.

Because most of the population is 70 or older. They eat supper at 4:30, have their bathrobes and slippers on by 7, and are in bed by 8. A ball game that lasts until 10 or 10:30 pm is too late for them. And they can't go to the day games either because that's when they have to drive around going 10 miles under the speed limit with their blinker on.

They have the worst league in baseball and they are nowhere near playoff contention so people do not care about them.
Watch out for them next year as they will make a huge run at the playoffs barring and huge changes.
