"Keep On Loving You" is a power ballad written by American musician Kevin Cronin and performed by his band, REO Speedwagon. It features the lead guitar work of Gary Richrath. It was one of many REO Speedwagon songs to become a pop hit, reaching the number-one spot for one week in March 1981 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and peaking at number seven in the UK Singles Chart.
The song ushered in an era of polished radio-friendly ballads, which would dominate the 1980s, when they provided an easy route to a hit for pop-metal acts. Having mastered the style, REO Speedwagon reclaimed the number one spot in 1985 with another power ballad, "Can't Fight This Feeling".
