Another case of a sleeping child missing from her home. Her mother was in the home at the time (so she says). Is she telling the truth?

The Associated Press reports:
CORSICANA, Texas (AP) — A 6-year-old girl was found hanged inside her family's garage and had been sexually assaulted before she died, police said Wednesday.

Authorities have made no arrests or named any suspects since Hannah Mack's body was discovered by her mother on Monday. They are saying little about their investigation.

"I will confirm that the hanging and sexual assault were part of this scenario," Navarro County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Mike Cox said.
Police said Dana Mack began searching after she realized Hannah was missing at a time she would have been getting ready for school.
Police asked state caseworkers to not say whether Hannah's family had been investigated by child welfare officers. a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, characterized the request as uncommon.

UPDATE: The live in boyfriend has been arrested for her murder. If he is guilty, which he probably is, he should immediately be taken to the same garage and hanged!!!!!

I think they should fully investigate the live in boyfriend. Whenever a child is brutally killed in such a way its because there has been someone living in the residence who had close contact with the child. I believe that the mother of the child is covering up for her boyfriend, mostly because she in blinded by love for the guy or they are trying to start a new life as a single couple with no kids. People these days have been doing the most irresponsible things with there kids because they want to start over. Instead of thinking about giving the child up for adoption they take the cowardly way out. I believe that both the mother and the boyfriend had something to do with the whole assault and death of the child. They should be kept as suspects. If no one had seen anything unusual going on in the family or a person around their home at the time that did not belong there. UNLESS the crime scene shows something different?

According to neighbors and family members, they have no reason to suspect the mother. I read about this today and it broke my heart. My prayers and heartfelt sympathy go to the family. I cannot imagine the grief and dispair they must be going through. This is so tragic. I am sure Hannah is in Heaven now and we can take comfort in that - no one can ever hurt her again! If anything like this happened to my children, I don't know how I would be okay. I pray something good can come out of this - I pray that God will lead the investigators to finding the truth and the person who did this so justice will come - for Hannah!
We as a nation, need to come together and support this family, not accuse. We need to pray for them, grieve with them and demand justice be done. This investigation needs to be thorough and quick. I hope they work night and day until it is solved so nothing happens to another child. It would take a very disturbed and sick person to do this to a family member, esp. a 6 yr old - so in my opinion - they need to look outside the family first.
Hannah's family had my deepest sympathy and I will be remembering them in prayer for a long long time. Hope that answers your question.

Shades of Jon Benet Ramsey. Many child assaults and murders are committed by someone who knows the child. That is why cops look at the family FIRST.

Since I have not heard of this case before, and I have little access to the facts, I will refrain from saying mroe now.

When somone posted this yesterday i was abslaoutly horrified, not just at the murder, but that she was only 20 minutes from my house.
A little to close to home.
I watched the Vigil on the news this morning and last night and just felt heartbroken that someone would take such a innocent, beautiful child like that.
It is utterly disgusting and i hope her killer suffers greatly!

How horrible. How anyone can hurt a child is a mystery to me. I feel so sorry for her mother being the one to find her like that. It's beyond your worst nightmare.

I'll be hugging mine a little closer tonight.
