My daughter and I are going to vacation in Spain for a few days, and I found a good price on a flight from Madrid to Casablanca. We thought about going there for a couple days in early November. Is it a safe place to go, and how expensive are hotels and restaurants?

check out www.ciaworldfactbook.com and clikc on morrocco it will tell you what kind of trouble is going on there. My guess would be just like in any other foreign country and being an american just be vigil when out around the town and you should be ok. My guess is you will more than likely have to be more vigilant about scams than acual terrorists attacks Morocco being a tourist country doesnt want extremists there anymore than we do here. Try to dress as much as possible like the locals dont wear anything that would make you stand out as being an american while your there.

Yes Morocco is quite safe. I just returned from Khemisset on sept.13. I had no problems with anyone or anything. The people were amazingly friendly. It was nothing like I had expected. I would not reccommend staying in Casablanca though. Not because its not safe, but because it is very dirty and the smell is horrible. I also would not reccommend you or your daughter wearing anything that shows your legs while in Morocco either. It is a Muslim country and you will draw too much attention to yourselves if your legs arent covered. I wore pants and ankle length skirts and was fine. The Moroccan culture is amazing. Also if you don't speak Arabic or French you will probably have a very hard time communicating while there. French and Arabic are the 2 main languages spoken in Morocco and not many people know English. So please research the languages and the cultures before you go. If you do decide to go, Take care, Think safe, Be Cautious and keep your money on your person at all times.

Remember, we ever you go there is safe and an safe places, nice and nasty weather, good and bad people. You maybe more safe staying in a 3 star hotel in new york than a 5 star hotel in Chicago.
Morocco is a great place to be to live and to see. but of course there are places where you shouldn't go, the desert is beautifully so are the mountains, the beaches and the small towns.
I have bee to morocco so many times before and I love it, i love the people, I love the weather and I love the people.
But as you know not everyone is perfect.
Anywhere in the word there is good and bad people that's what makes a society.
But over all the country is great, compare to other Arabic country morocco is the best, of course there are no pyramids in morocco but there is way better places to visit.
The ocean is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
So much to say never enough time, but if you are looking for a great website that will tell y more about morocco visit: http://choufouni.com a great website for you.
Remember have fun explore and be happy.
Good luck

As an American living in Morocco I believe it is safe.

I don't know if I'd recommend Casablanca as a good choice...try Marrakech. There are usually great prices out of Madrid into Marrakech.

Enjoy Morocco.

I would recommend not going, only because you are not going with your own family. There are plenty of blonds with green eyes in Morocco, especially in the mountains. I think you risk facing alot of sexual harassment from your friends relatives who still live in Morocco. Alot of moroccan guys want to leave Morocco so may see you as a ticket out of the country in a few years when you turn 18. Also many were never raised to respect women so they are total perverts, it's really embarassing, but that's what happens when Arabs come and impose there foreign religion on your ancestors and there foreign language.

It had better be because we are going on a cruise that stops there and we have booked a land tour to sightsee. We're going on a NCL ship in November 2007 (we'll be there Oct 31 and Nov 1) and I think if it were not safe the cruise line would not be stopping there. We will actually make two stops in Morocco, Casablanca and Agadar.

Yes it's a very safe country and they like Americans. If you are traveling alone with your daughter I would try to go with a tour group because it is a Muslim country and women don't usually travel alone. It is a beautiful country with many things to discover. Casablanca is not the most interesting city though. Fes and Marrkech have more to offer. It is not very expensive and you will receive 8 dirhams per 1 dollar right now. Enjoy your vacation!

morocco is wonderful, altho casablanca is not really a great tourisy area -- more like a large city w/ small sections of old town & a great mosque.

find a flight to fez or marrakech & you will be happier w/ your choice. great shopping & sights in the old medinas/souks.....plenty of nice hotels & restaurants for reasonable prices. have fun!!!

Morocco is safe. Be aware, take precautions and think smart, and you should be just find. I would say that about ANY place you visit that you are not familiar with, not just Morocco.

Prices vary, but you can generally find very economical lodging and dining in all of Morocco.
