A- the amount of carbon on earth reamains essentially constant. Some of it is converted to carbon dioxide or methane gas, but it never leaves the planet. Not too much later, the plants pick it back up and turn it into sugars and things.

Carbon is just cycled through the biosphere. It's the same carbon atoms over and over and over. There's not any appreciable amount of it entering or leaving Earth.
