Does anyone know how to add a loop dangling from a flat or spiral braid hemp necklace when you are braiding it? Something you can attach a charm to? I can't seem to find it in my book I bought and I can't do this necklace...thanks!!!

That depends on how you are braiding.
If you braid like hair, you can make a loop in one of your strands and make sure that the loop sticks out in the right spot. (You would normally braid till close to the place where the loop is needed. Make the loop, braid on till just past the loop and adjust the results. You can even put the charm on the string before making a loop.)
Or you an make a loop by tying a knot in the whole braid where you want the loop.
Which method depends on the thickness of the braid and the size of the charm.

If you 'braid' by knotting, you can leave an opening, or string the charm on the string and just continue.
If the opening does not stay open between knots, you can add a pencil or something else, to keep the opening till you have fixed it with a few more knots. Keep your knots tight, they should not move at all after you have tightened them.

You can also put the charm on a little loop of string, and put that around the braid, or through the braid.

I hope this helps. But if you have questions left, feel free to contact me.

Here are some sites with macrame instructions, the first one has several different kind of necklaces, but they are not easy, the second one is real basics but with good photos:

The only demos of braiding I have seen have made the loop right at the beginning, before starting the braiding (a bit like doing Scoobydoo). Are there any demonstrations on youtube? Someone may show exactly what you need.
