If it sticks up far enough, try a good vise grip type pliers and clamp on to it real hard. Also go to Sears and get a screw extractor set. Squirt some penetrating oil on it and let it sit awhile too. Sometimes you have to use an electric drill and carefully drill to make the screw extractors work better.

If you can get to the head of the screw, use a hacksaw to cut a slot into it for a straight bladed screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver then tap down on it with a hammer a few times. This will help loosen the screw beside seating the screwdriver.
Good luck.

Go to the hardware store and buy something called an "easy out." It'll attach to a drill and you'll be able to back out the screw with it. Also don't forget to buy a replacement screw with a philips head.

Use a Dremel and with a skinny carbide wheel. Make a lessen in it and use a strait side screwdriver to get rid of it. or Use a pair of vice grips if the screw is protruding. If none of this works or the screw is painted or caught attempt hitting the back of the screwdriver with a hammer to value the best or threads. form of like tapping a jar to open it.

If you have a small pair of Vice-Grips, you might be able to get a hold of the head and start the un-screwing proses. If not, you will have to get a screw extractor from any hardware store.

You need to drill it out with a very fine carbide drill bit. Going bigger after each hole until it is out. If it is a large screw, drill a hole in the center and use an extractor to remove the screw.

there are special drill bits for taking out messed up screws. And next time you take out the screw, make sure you use the correct sized screwdriver and apply firm pressure so it doesn't slip and strip your fasteners
