I went to planned parenthood to see if something was wrong with me since I smelled a fishlike odor. they had done a pap smear 2 weeks ago & a chalmidia check. everything came up fine. so I went in yesterday with my concerns and t he NP said that the odor could be from the foods I'm eating..what foods could this be? I also told her my vaginal mucus is a slight yellow tint..everything I've read said that's not normal, but the doc said sometimes the colors varies, not to worry...& that the fish odor could be due to birth control I have just started 3 days ago

So I guess my question is, how long will it take for the fishy odor goes away? I told the doc that i was worried it was an std. she said while we only did a clamidyia check, the pap smear would've come back with weird results,& further testing would've been administered to see why it came back weird, is this true? am I out of the clear? she also did just a bacterial infection check (i.e. yeast or uti check) & it was all negative

Sometimes a pap smear can show if there is infection even though it's for screening for cervical cancer (I've had it happen twice), but it's coincidental according to the Medical Assistant that works for my doctor.

Based on what you are describing especially the smell it sounds like you may have an infecction called bacterial vaginosis. Please ask the doctor to check you for this. If she won't please check with the city health dept to see if they offer a free clinic for Women's health issues.

If you have been told that you have no STI or vaginal infection, then the odor could be due to non-thorough cleaning of the vaginal folds.

Try this:
While you shower, spend more time cleaning all of the folds of skin in the vaginal area. Including, if you're comfortable, sticking one or two fingers (up to about the first knuckle) inside of your vaginal opening and cleaning it out. However, don't get this confused with douching...don't actually spray water up inside of yourself as this can actually cause a vaginal infection. Try to do this daily. Also, try wearing panti-liners; they tend to absorb the discharge much better than panties.

A slightly yellow tinted discharge is normal. A slight odor is also normal. As long as it's not a severe odor accompanied by cottage cheese-like or green discharge, and itching, redness and/or swelling of the inner labia, then you should be fine.

Its probably something you are eating or taking like any herbal medication? Vitamins? Some other stuff. You will need to try and take out things from your diet and simply watch if anything does change the odor. If you have no yeast infection, no STD there is nothing to worry, it must be some medication or food intake. Do not stop the b/c that does not cause any smell usually.

The Word of God. I declare the guarantees therein. An instance is Philippians four:6 and seven "Be frightened approximately not anything however in the whole lot via prayer and supplication with thanksgiving allow your requests be made recognized to God. Verse 7 Then the Peace of God which extends past the brain's capacity to realise shall look after your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." That is a best promise to say. It is just a mystery to people who don't but recognise or refuse to grasp.
