Thanks in advance!

you can never measure it if you are dilated. but when the process is going on, labor pains usually occurs. cause the dilatation (of your cervix) and the pushing of the head of the baby cause the labor pains.

leave the measuring system to the doctors and yes, they use their fingers to estimate how much cm you are dilated

good luck

Yes. The doctors and nurses use their fingers to feel for dilation and effacement (the thinning of the cervix). It is measured in centimeters. Just a fingertip is approximately 1cm. There's not really any way for you to tell that you're dilating other than being internally checked. With my last pregnancy I had SO much pain and pressure that I just KNEW I was dilating. I had my scheduled appointment early that morning and was only at 1cm. I called him 3 hours later because I was in so much pain and I had progressed to 4 cm. Sometimes you can "feel" that you are dilating, but there's never a sure way to know except to be checked.

Trust me you won't be thinking about it! I was dilating 2cm an hour with my first and i just said well how long till it i over! I know that it is centimeters and that would be about the size of your fingertip on your pinkie. Just remember to breathe! Good luck!

you cant. there is no way for you to check yourself, plus you really shouldnt try too. leave it to the doctors to do that at your appointments or when your in labor. and yes, they use their fingers, and go by centimeters.
