My husband got his first cat when he was five years old. She passed away after we were married. No, our marriage was not the cause. LOL. She was 19 years old! Average is 14 years.
Boxer life span is 8 - 12 years. Pug life span is 12 - 15 years.

A well cared for cat can usually live for at least 15 years, some make it well into their 20's! From my experience, most dogs live about 10-12 years.

Cats can live for a very long time. An indoor cat who is well taken care of can live 20 years and beyond. I had a cat who was 14 when she died.
Dogs are about the same.

I don't know about the dogs. But I have known of kitties living up to 18 years: The vet I take my kitties to used to have a beautiful Himalayan who would lay on her fleece bed on the desk, and occasionally accept pets from the other pet owners. The desk was mighty bare when I came in for an appointment one day and saw the bed folded up and laying on a shelf.
