It used to upset me too, but do not pay attention. You just look young, does not mean anything else..as you get to your mid 20's you'll love it. Start taking it as a good compliment, or joke back and say : " Well I am really in my 30s, gosh good genes :)" You got to make the best out of any insult or compliment, it makes life easier if you are being positive about everything..

In your stage of life and depending on your surroundings it could be an insult or a compliment. If you and some of your underage friends tried to get into a club and the door man said where is your mommy you of course would whip your I.D. on him and feel pretty good. On the other hand if you are with your husband on a cruise and the waiter says where is your mama (or I need some I.D.) in front of a table of twelve you would probably be a little embarrassed. So its not the person asking, its you and your surrounding that will take it as a compliment or and insult. Don't worry it will pass before you know it you will be thirty something, developing wrinkles and have children of your own, probably asking this question.

Wow! Those sneakers are so lovable on you! I had the equal type a couple of years in the past... I simply made that one up I realize it's now not that well. A few years in the past my fine pal and I have been telling each and every different what animals we concept we so much resemble. She stated "I believe you so much seem just like the gollum from Lord of the Rings. But a lovable youngster variation!" I wasn't definite what to believe. I advised her she gave the look of a hippo lol

It's an obvious oversight, people are just trying to be good and let a younger person know they have 'strayed' from the protective area around their Mom. Looking at it like that you can see that they are just trying to be 'good folk'.

When they ask, you can either ignore it, smile and move on, or perhaps find a clever and funny way to answer them.
"My mother is 500 miles away, at home, probably gardening right about now. Why do you ask?" Say this with a smile and a wink which lets them know you both 'get the joke'.

This question doesn't have to be insult or compliment, you get to decide whether it affects you or not and choice is up to you whether you continue to feel "overlooked."

If you know yourself and are doing the things that bring lasting happiness, peace and balance to your life then Anything another person might ask or say doesn't have to make Any difference or affect you in an adverse manner.

Perhaps it's your attire. I always think that I look much younger in a pair of jeans and a little top than when I wear my Nike gear or Puma gear. Sporty is smart and sexy. People take me more seriously and don't seem to pick on me as much. Also, it depends on what kind of people you hang with, my friends and acquaintances from college are much more courteous than people in public places.

Its a compliment, at 21, you should be looking very youthful in order that ppl ask this sort of questions. You should be happy instead of feeling insulted..enjoy your youth while you have.. In a few years time ppl will be asking you "where's your kids' and at that time you will feel dreadful...and insulted f you are not even married....

I used to have the same thing happen to me when I was much younger (your age and into my late 20's). I don't get that anymore. It means you look younger than your actually age and that's not a bad thing, because I used to feel like you and now I would love to have such a problem. Enjoy while it last!

Right now, when you're young, it's a pain that people think you are younger than you actually are.

But, as you get older, it will be a real asset - the rest of us will be looking our age and jealous as hell that you don't!

Just laugh it off and don't let it worry you - you'll have the last laugh!
