I asked a loaded question earlier in hopes of receiving responses like this:

"you're just whining because a liberal cut you off on the freeway or your ex was a liberal and she left you."

"what other problems with the truth plague you perhaps I can help you sort it out"

"One has to be pretty dumb to regard awareness of and concern for the deterioration of the planet as 'fear mongering'. "

"Another person that listens to Fox Noise too much"

I don't agree with the premise of your question. I don't believe liberals have "talking points." They just gripe and moan about everyone and everything.

My intention is always civil discourse. But when posed a spurious, toxic, and frankly idiotic "question" such as:

"Why do democrats hate America?"
or
"Do libs wet their pants when they see Bin Laden?"
or, my personal favorite,
"The surge is working. Why do libs hate freedom?"

These are questions asked by three types of people:
Trolls
Those incapable of rational thinking
Imbeciles with computers

In any case, the questions are never queries designed to induce a debate. They are heavy handed indictments. The winning answer is most likely the one that most agrees with the poster, not the best answer.

In the abstract it's all a big waste of time. But if someone starts up, I havev no problem flinging the bull**** right back at them.

It takes maturity and a certain amount of intelligence to be able to debate someone in a civil, no-nonsense way, without name calling and put-downs. You're asking a bit too much from many of those who troll this site, don'cha think? Which is why I don't get dragged in the middle of political controversies. It does no good, in this forum, to discuss these things rationally. Save it for the ballot box. That speaks much better than anything anyone can say. 'Nuff said. <*)))><

I have continuously tried to enter into debate with lengthy(I'm sorry for my longwindedness but the issues are not simple) answers that strive to include information to back up my opinions. I endeavour to give questions the attention they deserve.

I usually receive insults from a wide range of people who are probably(to judge from their answers) rude and ignorant and with a tendency to confuse jingoism with being a good and loyal citizen of our country. Believe me, liberals do not have a monopoly on bad manners,a poor education and extreme chauvinism.

BTW,I consider myself a conservative (NOT to be confused with neoconservatism).

Thankfully, there are also a lot of people who do not correspond to the above description and they make participating on this Q&A site meaningful.

Please,what facts are those?

This isn't a onesided offence...I see just as many liberals making childish and foolish accusations instead of answering questions.

This forum is a akin to a schoolyard...with children bickering and bullies attempting to intimidate. There are a few who are the voices of reason and want legitimate debate, but their voices are drowned out by the namecalling...

There is a marvelous chapter in Richard Pipes' The Russian Revolution which describes the inability of the intelligentsia to deal with debate. Since their world view is based on theory rather than fact they have to immediately squelch any debate that brings up contraindicative facts. This leads to "permitted speech" (i.e. political correctness) and the labelling of others as not worthy of consideration (the insulting that you note in your question). It is sad but those who should be incredibly facile in debate, the intellectuals, are most often the ones who cannot defend their viewpoint.

It is also why conservatives usually respond to liberal pronouncements with requests for data/facts as the conservatives tend to be fact based thinkers rather than theory based thinkers.

Why do cons label you a lib if you ask a question they don't like?why do cons call you a lib if you suggest maybe the pre-invasion Iraq intel was cherry picked? Why do cons call dems traitors for saying we need to withdraw from Iraq? Why do cons call you a conspiracy nut if you say you don't believe those two planes could make three building implode?

Often how one states a "question", loaded or not, results in answers not desired. Perhaps if you unload your question, state facts as you see them with proper links or references you will get honest and straight foreward discussion. To put it another way. When you poke a stick in a wasps nest you are likely to be stung.

That's the flaw to your theory...a loaded question. I'd gladly debate a rational argument, but some of the anti-liberal questions are just plain silly, argumentative, and often bashing.

Usually because liberals find it hard to answer when a conservative says something so hopelessly religious and backward, one's first instinct is to bust out laughing.
