There are many reasons for trees:
- Oxygen
- Stop erosion
- Habitat for wildlife
- Reduce the impact of storms (recent research shows that the impact of hurricanes is much more severe in areas were forests have been cut down because the trees absorb some of the impact)
- Temperature mitigation. Areas with trees are cooler in the hot temps and warmer in cold. Many cities have tried planting trees to help reduce energy usage.
However, I think the big reason is psychological. Think of how you feel walking through a forest compared to anywhere else in the word. You feel happier and calmer. I live in a house with 20+ trees in the yard, we have friends who love to come to our house just to sit under them.

Trees
I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
While they are fighting global warming, trees provide many benefits to all of us, every day. They provide cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion, clean our water, and add grace and beauty to our homes and communities.

This is rather easy when you think about it! You need trees to breathe and to make "paper products" which is quite a long list in itself. Also provides home and shelter for animals along with food in its leaves for animals and insects...the list continues....
