Let's assume that Madeleine was killed in the time between beach and dinner. That's a couple of hours. In this time, Kate and Gerry would have had to find a place to hide the body. Bring it there on foot - they had no car. Hide it. Get back to the apartment, shower and change for dinner and then go out and act as if nothing strange had happened.
After 25 days they body would be badly decomposed in that heat. It's within walking distance of the apartment. You would smell it from 100 meters, but nobody found it.
And how are Kate and Gerry, in the full glare of 24 hour media coverage, supposed to have stolen away unnoticed and moved the body again.
I just don't see how it could be done.

Storm. If they shared a people carrier, did the McCanns have the keys? If they didn't have the keys, did they ask someone in the party for the keys? Are they all involved. Are they all such good actors. I'm still not convinced.

Kate Murphy. I'm just trying to bring a bit of distance and logic to the debate rather than the ranting and wild speculation that's gone before.

Progressive Scan. That would suggest it was premeditated which would seem to go against the police theory that it was an accident and they reacted in panic

Dim Witt. But wouldn't the police have searched the garbage bins first?

NickJ. It could have happened any time up to 10pm. I focused on the time between beach and dinner because that the single longest period of time. They could have disposed of the body during one of the checks during dinner. But they would only have 20 mins max before someone questioned where they were. It would be almost impossible.
Curious. I'm called CuriousJ because the name Curious was already taken. And I'm a curious person, so it seems like a good name.

nah, i don't think they did it either. I think that maybe the police where fed up of the bad publicity about "not getting anywhere" so they decided, 'hey, you know what, that would make a good story'.
but, thats my own opinion. If they did kill her, wouldn't they have done less to find her? i mean, the whole website and media coverage? why go to all that trouble??

I am sure on the night in question the whole party DID have a hire car. A people carrier, they shared I believe.
No dont know who had the keys, but they did have a hire car to share. But the friends wouldnt think anything of it if Gerry asked for the keys earlier in the evening, before Kate announced she was missing. And then they may not mention it to Police. Or maybe it has been mentioned and its part of the evidence???? Who knows????

Totally agree!
Also, the car was a hire car, hired 25 days after Maddie went missing, is it not possible, as a hire car this car was hired but someone else before the McCanns???? Also, hire cars are filthy some of them, all sorts of muck and debris, all amounts of different DNA from a indefinate number of people could be obtained from dead skin, hairs, toe nails.. sweat, blood. I really don't think the Portugese Police claims at the moment amount to anything.

This is of course all speculation at this stage and none of us have sight of the 4000 page report. But, assuming, as you do, that the leaked details are correct, your hypothesis that they are innocent faces equally if not more implausible facts - namely that someone has managed to plant clumps of hair, bodily fluids and the smell of death in their hire car, on clothing etc in circumstances where the police were no nearer to catching the true culprit.
Anayway, why are you assuming she was killed between the beach and dinner? Why not any time prior to 10pm when KM raised the alarm?

A third party is involved; remember a man was seen carrying a child wrapped in a blanket.
Edit- You're right, it would suggest that it was premeditated - which is what I believe: the police haven't said they don't think it was murder, all they've said is that the evidence they have is enough to charge them only with 'accidental death'.

You have some good points, but other people would have had to be involved......IF she was alive at all before they left the apartment......or when Kate went to check up on her that evening.
How come you're called CuriousJ?

I dont think they did it either. If they did why did they keep up the publicity, they are not stupid people surely they would have gone home and let things settle down. They have done a lot of high profile stuff, getting appeal going it , it just doesnt add up. i honestly dont think they did it.

Madeleine could have been casually dropped like garbage in one of the special garbage waste disposal units they have on beach at Praia Da Luz. ...Concealed of course in the wee twins pram. Maybe???

if it was done early evening, they could not have moved the body in daylight....maybe that's where the cadaver scent came from....the body was in the apartment until dark when they had opportunity to move it wothout being suspected.
