I can't tell you what's right and whats wrong for your daughter, but these days the playboy symbol represents more of the attitude, more than the actual sex. As long as your daughter doesn't want to grow up to be the centerfold, i don't see anything wrong with it!

I personally think that the playboy bunnie, although inocent enough in itself, has ALOT to do with sex.
I mean, what do you think of when you hear 'playboy' or see the bunnie sign?
I think that today the sign itself is being marketed towards much younger people, especially girls and this is worrying. Your daughter will eventually make the connection between playboy and sex because thats how the design was spawned in the first place and what it's famous for so if you do decorate then be prepared for some awkward questions later on and judgement from other parents.

I think its more about what it represents. I have never thought of Playboy as pornographic, as a matter of fact, I think it is more tastefully done than most. But, would I want my child to know about it at the age of 8...well, no. It's kind of like the whole alcohol issue. If I tell my kids that its not okay to drink, then why would I keep alcohol in my home. Its kind of the same concept. I don't want my daughter to do a nude shot in Playboy magazine, so I am not going to promote it in my home.
Now, will I judge you for making the decision to allow your daughter to hang posters and such of the Playboy bunny in her room? No, I won't. But,if you wanted my advice I would suggest some other kind of bunnies if that is what she is into. There are some really cute ones out there.
If you do decide to go ahead and allow her to hang the Playboy stuff up, then be prepared to defend your actions. There will be people out there that will judge you. If you are okay with that, then fine. If not, then, like I said, choose another theme.
Just my opinion. Sure hope it helps you with your question.

I can see both sides of the argument actually. On the one hand, there are lots of cute things your daughter could decorate her room with, why choose Playboy? Playboy does have a lot of sexual connotations which young girls shouldn't really be exploring yet! Your daughter should be surrounded by positive images of women rather than women who have to basically sell their bodies for money!
However, I assume you mean the playboy bunny rather than posters from the magazine? The Playboy bunny is fashionable at the moment and a lot of people are into it for the symbol rather than the idea of what Playboy is actually about... and this isn't really as damaging as people might be suggesting
However, Playboy IS just about sex and naked women and maybe it's not a positive thing for your daugther to be getting into at such a young age.
I suppose the main thing at the end of the day though is teaching your daughter that things go on in the world that we might not agree with but so long as she has the self respect to do the right thing, and your support to help her through, it's all okay. Better that than to hide her from the truth!

Were do you think it came from because it didn't come from a mother rabbit .the playboy Bunnie is a symbol of porn, it still don't mean you cant use it my 13 yr old niece has it in her room .
Type in playboy and i bet the first thing that comes up is nude woman , do a bit of looking first about what the symbol represents before you start telling people to get a life.

I am warning you. DO NOT let your little girl decorate your room in playboy. If she does that will lead to other things. Curiosity will take her further into play boy and even though she isn't a guy shes still going to learn things she shouldn't at a young age which is going to lead to even more things. Your saying that by letting her put those bunny posters up playboy is a good thing.

You may be right about your daughter liking bunnies, but why not get your daughter regular childrens bunnies. Wouldn't that be more appropriate for a child to have up on their walls?
As for the playboy bunny and it being sexual in nature, it's because it is. The symbol and the magazine is adult oriented, not directed towards children. When you open the magazine, you won't find children stories about Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, or Shrek, you will find nude(mostly), adult women in various sexual positions. But it's your house and you will do what you will.

Don't be naive. It is a symbol intentionally marketed to represent a magazine based on nudity for sexual gratification. She may not understand it yet, but she will some day, and others who see it will definitely make that connection. I'm sorry but it is kind of creepy that you would knowingly surround your child with such a sexual symbol.
Symbols are powerful, they are meant to be. What about a swastika, a pentagram, an American flag, a skull and crossbones, a cross. A picture IS worth a thousand words. And the walls of your child's room are screaming sex.
Why not let her play with condoms? She'll just think they are balloons, but everyone else will know what they are. Is that what you want?

How and why was your daughter of 8 ever exposed to Playboy to begin with. Where do you draw the line at what is appropriate...you are after all a parent. You must have a small conflict about it or you would not be posting these comments.

Um. Sorry but the playboy magazine and playboy bunnies are associated with porn. That's the whole point.
Of course an 8 year old isn't going to see it that way, hopefully she doesn't even know what porn is at her age.

I wouldn't encourage that.
Let's not be naive here. People see Playboy as "sex"....most subscribers do NOT buy the magazine for the articles as they may explain.
It may not be PORN but it is explicit and a poor example of how a young girl should believe the world perceives how a woman's body should be displayed.
There are many bunny photos/posters/calendars/wallpaper available for your child to enjoy.
There'll be lots of time in the future for her to enjoy the adult bunnies
