Sure, but think about the numbers of commercial planes that have crashed in the past several years. In the US, it has been essentially 0. It is much safer to fly than to drive, statistically. Plus, the planes are maintained very well mechanically, and if there is the possibility of turbulent weather, they will make plans to avoid it. Hope this helps.

Yes. Wind shear use to be a big problem back in the day. But better weather detection devises and operational procedures mean you should worry about it anymore.

This says 27 crashes over 30 years, close to 1 a year until the mid 90's.
