Most psychiatrists call "mood swings" bipolar depression. I think shrinks don't live in the real world, they're guessing about the human psyche, it's just that they have the title M.D. after their names, and are as clueless as their patients (I note this from personal experience). Professionally, I explain to my patients that mood swings are kind of like a Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde episodes.........going from friendly and pleseant to a mean SOB.......Oh, and PMS is really an acronym for Punish My Spouse........

when your disposition changes from likebeing sad to happy, or from being cool to irritated. this is most asociated with girls and women and its involved in our monthly period wherein one week before our period starts some have mood swings. i get to experience these mood swings intensely and extremely, but i'm trying to control them. =) some guys have these too, but it would be unusual because guys rarely have 'mood swings'. =)
