USC plays in the PAC 10. The teams in the PAC 10 aint worth a damn. Because the other teams aint worth a damn, USC always has a good record.

this is the West Coast bias in that it reminds the way it was once with Notre Dame. The Irish would f*rt and each and all of the media would holiday over themselves attempting to get a whiff. properly this is a similar for USC now. enable's see 2 years in the past the ultimate disappointed in college soccer advance into USC's final game loss to unranked UCLA. bear in mind all they had to do advance into win it and that they have got been interior the NT game. are you able to spell the notice CHOKE! final years best disappointed advance into Stanford a 40+ underdog playing on the Coliseum and beating USC. Oh confident, USC advance into ranked NO. one million in the two those years interior the preseason polls. an excellent group. What a collection of B.S. i ask your self what unranked group they are going to lose to this 365 days. as a good distance because of the fact the SEC they have 4 communities interior the best 10 and guess what? all of them could play one yet another. USC does no longer stand a guess interior the SEC.

I completely agree with you, although I think it's not only an unfair advantage that USC was ranked #1, but I think it's unfair to every other team as well. Preseason ranking are no more than the pollsters guessing who they think will have a good team the upcoming year. It's more of a popularity contest than any actual ranking system.
Until Division 1A football has a playoff, there will always be a debate on who is the "REAL" National Champion.

They are out there in Tinseltown, and the pollsters get caught up in all the media hype that follows USC all season. I guess that writers from "Tiger Beat" and all the other teen girl magazines are part of the AP poll. They are busy following USC's quarterback, whoever it is that season, and are too enamored with him to notice who the nation's best teams are.

It's funny how soon people forget. I see alot of use of the word "always" here. I remember before around 5 years ago USC was off the map for about about 20 years.

It is unfair to rank a team without any wins, look at how overrated OSU was last year. When they played a team from a competitive conference, they went down like a house of cards. Same goes for Notre Dame.

They always rank high in the recruiting class and are judged on returning starters, but I dont really think they should shoot to the top of the pack so easy.. What was there last Big win? Michigan. We see how they are doing now.. They are a top 5 team, but not #1

Same reason the University of Michigan is always high in the pre season polls, tradition and past experience. Look what it did for Boo of M! I think it is more of a disadvantage than an advantage. They have to try to live up to that hype.

Couldn't be the fact that they've lost only 6 games in the past five years, or that they've finished each of those five years no lower than 4th in the final polls, or that they usually have one of the top 5 recruiting classes in the country, or that they returned most of their starters on defense from last year.

Nah, it's got to be a bias.
