yet she insists that her two children were born without any problems and therefore continues to smoke. Why will some people make ANY excuse just to smoke? She also points out that there are many women over 40 having perfectly healthy babies.

Dreamer, Of course it's HER choice not mine. That's not even up for debate. But as far as your belief about a dangerous drop in blood pressure, that's complete nonsense. You can't compare the two. I'm going to guess that you smoke or have smoked while pregnant. How about smokers stop making excuses for smoking and put the needs of your child FIRST????

It's amazing, the amount of people who will actually excuse this moron's "right" to smoke. Hey, it's all about YOU isn't it? YOUR needs must be met first and foremost. What a joke.

How old are her other two kids? If they are small they might not know if they have problems or not. My mom smoked with all 4 of us kids and we all have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Smoking has been linked to miscarriage, low birth weight, ADD/ADHD, ect. Smoking restricts the blood vessels to the placenta, reducing the amount of oxygen that the baby receives.

First of all, only a complete and utter moron would ask you what business is it of yours. You never once gave the impression that you were somehow attempting to infringe on this idiot's "right" to pollute her womb with the most vile sh*t on the planet. And nosey (sic) ? If watching someone commit an act of child abuse - and it IS abuse - and then questioning it - if this is being nosy then so be it.
Kids starve to death every day, is it being nosy to ask why? Kids are murdered in wars and conflicts around the world, is it being nosy to ask why? Kids are physically and sexually abused by the MILLIONS - is it being nosy to ask why?
Don't listen to these apes that tell you to mind your own business. Take a stand just like you are and let it be known when you see injustice.
Edit: And there's actually an imbecile here who BELIEVES that smokers have HEALTHIER babies!!!! That should say it all. What a moron!!!!! She probably drives better when she's drunk. What a frigging zero!!!

Apparently smoking is more important to her than her children. Her children are much more likely to have allergies and asthma - or even more serious respiratory problems if she smokes around them. Personally I think it should be considered child abuse.
As for being over 40, many children are born to women over 40 that are just fine. There is no magic age that means you will definitely have problems. But she needed to be healthy and smoke-free to help her chances.

STUBBORNNESS>> I use to smoke but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I quit. And I haven't smoked since.. I don't understand it either.. AND I understand very well how addictive it is..blah blah blah.. BUT There are so many studies showing how many problems it causes. Miscariages, birth defects, Lung problems, etc. I just don't know how anyone could knowingly put an innocent UNBORN BABY at risk for so many awful things..just so they can smoke.

That is very irresponsible. I wouldn't drink sodaor anything with caffeine in it when I was pregnant, because I wanted to do everything I could to keep my baby healthy. She is being really ignorant. I'm going to pray for her children. That's just not right!

THERE AREN'T MANY WOMEN WITH BRAINS OVER 40 SMOKING WHILE HAVING BABIES. SHE APPARENTLY ISN'T ONE OF THEM.
PITY THE POOR KIDS BEING SUBJECTED TO SECOND HAND SMOKE 24/7. THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED CHILD ABUSE OR CHILD ENDANGERMENT.

I'm not justifying smoking in any way but... "3" miscarriages? Did you ever consider she may have a medical condition that she is not even aware of? Who are you to judge?

While health issues like this are unfortunate, what business is it of yours? If she wants to smoke while pregnant, thats her business and choice.

BTW Many women smoked during pregnant during the 60's and 70's and we all turned out normal.

If you dont believe in smoking while pregnant, dont.

Women like her should be stopped from having children. This is an outrage.

it's unethical/immoral, but legal in our culture.

people will always make excuses to do what they want to do whether it hurts themselves or someone else.

in general, most of us are selfish like that.
