Yes, they are called barbels.

A barbel on a fish is a slender, whiskerlike tactile organ near the mouth. Fish that have barbels include the catfish, the carp, the goatfish, sturgeon, and some species of shark. They house the taste buds of such fish and are used to search for food in murky water.

Barbels are often erroneously referred to as 'barbs', which are found in bird feathers for flight.

Barbels may be located in a variety of places. Maxillary barbels refer to barbels on either side of the mouth. Barbels may also be nasal, or extended from the nostrils. Also, barbels are often mandibular or mental, or located on the chin

RE:
Cat fish! Do they have whiskers? And Why?

Not whiskers, barbels, and the different species use them in different ways. However, none of them are "stingers",that's just wrong. We don't know all of the ways that catfish use their barbels, for instance, the cats that live in the upper parts of the Amazon (especially in the "fast" water rapids) have barbels that are longer than their body length, and trail behind them. Are they that interested in where they've been?
The Synodontis Catfishes of Africa have mysteriously complicated barbels that must serve several different purposes. We just don't know, but it's interesting to guess.

They do have whiskers and they are not only used as a defense mechanism, but also as feelers.

Yes they do. They eat things that hide in the mud, and the whiskers help them feel if something is moving in the mud as they nose around.

They do have whiskers, and I have no idea why. I think they are some sort of a defensive thing because they can cut you. They are like razors.

Yes they have whiskers to sting you with! It hurts and it will make you bleed, It is their defense mechanism! If you are ever fishing for them and catch one, make sure you wear a glove to take them off of the hook.
