for that short of time there. As others have said, shuttles or taxis will be the best way. I've only rented a car once and it was a hassle. Parking and pick up and return. I want to be where the action is, not standing in line being asked if I want extra insurance.

Have fun!

I'll keep mine short. I ALWAYS rent a car in Vegas. This is especially true for short trips. Parking is a cinch since everyone has free valet. Driving on the strip can be a nightmare, that is why you use the streets parallell to the strip instead of the strip itself. Rentals in Las Vegas are so cheap that you can probably rent a car for 2 or 3 days for the same price as a taxi to and from the airport. I would not use the hotel shuttles.

Unless you are planning to drive around town to visit family or go see the Dam, UNLV, Silver Bowl, Valley of Fire, or Red Rock Canyon, forget about the rental car.
The strip is Soooo congested! If you are staying downtown or on the Strip, you can walk everywhere you want to go. Or pay $2 to jump on the tourist friendly bus to go down the street to get to the casino you want to see.
Don't bother with a taxi either! You will pay more to sit in traffic. Give yourself some extra time to get to your dinner or show reservations. And if you take a taxi instead of a shuttle to and from the airport go with Yellow or Checker cab. Leaving the airport DO NOT let the driver take you through the tunnel!

You didn't say where you are staying. If you are staying anywhere on the strip you don't need to rent a car. There are plenty of taxis at the airport to take you to your hotel. There is also the van shuttles at the airport that you can buy round trip tickets and they will schedule a pickup for you when you have to return to the airport. While you are there you can take the bus that runs up and down the strip, taxis (which again are everywhere) or the monorail.

rent a car. your time there is precious, if you take the bus you will be waiting, and not to mention in the still summertime vegas heat. the strip is longer than it seems and if you take a few taxis here and there, and from the airport to your hotel and back, it will eventually add up to car rentals. car rental rates in vegas are some of the best in the nation, they run about $17-21/day and with three of you, splitting the cost is even more economical. besides, there are great hotels and attractions you might want to check out off the strip such as rio buffet, the palms, the orelans, downtown vegas with the fremont light experience. of course you won't have time to go everywhere in that time, but the satisfaction of freedom to go whereever you want at anytime without wasting time is priceless.

i found rates and reserved my car through this site:

tip-drive the strip once in the day and once at night just to see what it looks like. the rest of the time, try learning the side streets and navigate the strip those ways to avoid the congestion.

if you are staying on the strip definitely purchase a monorail ticket for going up and down the strip (if that is what you want to do in vegas). I think for a 3 day pass its like $25. If you are staying on the strip and want to venture off the strip then split a taxi with your friends.

from the airport to your hotel and back to the airport.... buy a token for a round trip right outside the airport. I believe its $12 per person.

Driving in Vegas is a nightmare. On the strip it's like driving in a bumper car and off the strip you should have a NASCAR license. Better leave the driving to the pros. Everyone above have good points. If you ever drove in Vegas you would understand. Why take the chance?

Definitely taxis and shuttles...anything but a rental car. One, you don't have to worry about parking. Second, no time is wasted picking it up or dropping it off. Third, you'll spend the same amount of money anyway...so why worry about driving. Fourth, unless you really know your way around Vegas, you've got that hassle. And finally...and to someone going to have a good time, if you're going to be drinking...no problem! It's great not worrying about getting busted for D.U.I.

Monorail for around the town and taxi to and from the airport. Driving around Las Vegas is nightmare! (Only if you are planning excursion around Vegas, then yes, car would be good idea)

If you're staying on or close to the strip then you won't need a car. Everything is a cheap cab ride away or within walking distance.
