Okay, well I breed guppies, and everytime I get babies, they die! I have a seperate 1 gallon tank for them, with a thermometer, a BIT of gravel, a silk plant, an under-gravel filter, and a light. Okay, so that tank is at 73 ferenheit. Don't tell me I need a 10 gallon, because I don't have the money and the room! Anyways, so everytime my guppy gives birth, the fry are healthy. Then some start to go missing. I checked yesterday, and some of my fry had pointed tails! The next day, those ones died! Are they deformed, or just really diseased? Someone please answer!

Thanks........

you can raise babies in tanks as small as yours but it requires work.
the danger is the babies polluting their own water and causing toxins to build up making them susceptible to problems (like closed fin disease -the pointy tailed ones)
the solution can be as simple as getting an ice cream pail and ALWAYS having a spare change of water ready to go (to avoid shock to the babies) your mini tank will require 50% water changes daily to avoid build ups with the prepared water.
to be sure of your water take a sample to your pet shop and get them to test it.
even though you have a filter your tank is small and needs the help of the water changes to go along with the filtering

well 1. the water is to cool, try around 78 to 82 degrees. 2. is it a fresh tank, if so it could be too high in ammonia.Try adding some of the parents water in the tank and add some starzyme in the tank, It will help your tank cycle faster. The bacteria gets rid of the ammonia.Your tank may not be broken in 3. What are you feeding them ,I would feed my fish with brine shrimp I hatched myself.

Something maybe wrong with the mother and it is something she is passing on to the fry. The tank may have also been contaminated but that isn't likely because the mother would have died as well. I'm not definitely sure, but maybe if you buy a brand new tank (NOT USED) for them, it may help. Hope this helps.

I'm not telling you that you need a 10 gallon, but i'm telling you that your water is too cold

They need temperatures around 76-82 degrees, that's the reason none of them survive

The pointed tails are normal, they're born like that

Hope that helps
Good luck

You can buy a little net box that hangs over the side of the tank. I think it is called a breeding box. link below. It just sits in the same tank as your other fish and you put the babies in there and they are fine.
