I have used the water change and filter debris from my tropical fishtanks to water my houseplants for many years and wonder if there is an excess of one or more possible plant nutrients contained in the water. Nitrates feature large in written material about the waste products that build up in a fish tank. and in other literature concerning plants nitrates are considered beneficial. Any ideas about the advantages or otherwise of this practice would be appreciated.
