hi moez
i like your question
your answer:it is because you have reformat it and you haven't create the partition in the hardisk you should make a partition in the hardisk
if you want the drive d or e you have to reformat it OK
after creating the partition you will automatically get the DVD-RW drive as e or f just insert the operating system disk and then reformat it at the bottom of the page you can see create partition = c press c it will give you the future instruction
OK my friend
good bye and thank you

I get the impression that before the format, your hard disk was partitioned leading to a Drive-C and Drive-D for the hard disk(s)..which would leave the CD drive as an "E".

Perhaps during/after the formatting, you were left with an unpartitioned hard disk, which would mean Drive-C for hard disk and Drive-D for CD drive.

Did you forget to opt for disk partitioning as you commenced the formatting?

if you wish to change the drive letter of your dvd drive then you can use disk manager (start run type compmgmt.msc click on disk manager)
you will require some form of dvd playback software... powerdvd ect...
you can check if KLite Codec Pack will do this for you free
