Sports Headline today:

"A year after the brawl, FIU and Miami say it won't happen again"

I absolutely can't stand UM. Their "thugs for football" program is notorious for fighting!

They had not had a fight in over 10 years prior to that one. Whether or not you dislike UM, they are not thugs. If a person has a prior bad act, do we condemn them all? or are we not to give them a 2nd chance? I guess everything is black and white for you. Hope you don't make a mistake. If you do, you should be held to the same level, you hold these players most of whom are still in their teens- condemnation.
While multiple infractions should not be overlooked, one should not doom someone forever. One kid who had multiple infractions, and committed one AFTER he was accepted was benched and transferred out of UM.
Pushing and shoving on a field is par for the course with every football team. None of them are immune or have not done it.
You have no idea what precipitated the fight. FIU Golden Eagles members, who were born and raised in Miami started the brawl mainly because they were pissed that they did not get accepted by Coach Larry Coker to the UM program. The week before the brawl, 2 TE from FIU started talking smack at a party where some other UM players and they were ignored. So once the game was underway and FIU was losing, the bitter players started out with the crap. the fight was ugly and a disgrace but the similar headline was also published 1, 3 and 4 weeks after the fight. Quite a few of the instigators are no longer around.
In any event, manners are taught at home, so they emulate what they learned at home. Discipline for the game is what is taught by the coach. If a person is able to translate that and unlearn all they had been exposed to for most of their formative years, well good for them.

Because there program does not instill the values needed to be a true sportsman, nor do they seriously check out the background of their recruits, who have many priors as juveniles and it goes unnoticed or ignored. Every program is a reflection of the head coach, if the coach does not have a value system, it will reflect in their program. Friends joke UM is actually "Prison Release" football...

They recruit thug players all for the sake of winning. Winning means $$$$$. Then they hire coaches who don't hold players accountable. Like Barry Switzer back at Oklahoma. Sounds like Randy Shannon will be different . Let's hope so.
