i have got a laptop ( IBM Thinkpad T40 )... the problem is the cursor..it moves by itself.....without touching the pad....or the mouse

It's common with pointing sticks for the pointer to move a little on its own although it stops after a few seconds if you leave it.
If it isn't stopping after leaving it for a few seconds then you'll probably be up for a new keyboard.

There is a ghost trying to use the laptop. You should either find a way to share this computer or have an exorcism.

is it a tablet pc? you might want to clean the screen.
