It should be very clear that we have more in common with Europe.

Europeans wouldn't accept an infant mortality rate comparable to a developing country (see link below) or the levels of poverty revealed by Katrina.

Even when the Americans try to do the right thing they lack the intellectual capacity to get it right (Iraq/Afghanistan).

What in the world are you babbling about? If you like the EU so darned much, have at it. Having spent a good deal of time there on business, I can attest to you that the US is in much better shape than the EU. But, you're free to live there if you want.

What is it with the British harping on about the unelected officials in the EU.

Let's see, the most powerful part of the EU organisation is the Counicl of Ministers, which is shock horror the elected heads of government or state from the different countries. Then theres the European Parliament, shock horror, elected again. There is the commission similar to a cabinet, which the electorate at large has never had the power to control, who are appointed by the council of ministers and either accepted or rejected by the European Parliament.

Now, the UK has an elected parliament, then an appointed House of Lords and a monarchy as head of state. The UK is a bit rich talking about democratic deficit when it has a hereditary monarchy.

When people go on about the corruption of the commission. The commission that resigned, all resigned because one of the commissioners refused to resign over appointing a friend to a position that she didn't have the qualifications for. Seems trivial in comparison to lying about the reasons for starting a war.

Just why do we have to pick one or the other.

As for Europe , this has been going now , for how many years, if we the people had wanted it to be , it whould have been so by now

As for the Americans lacking the intellectual capacity to get it right ref. Iraq / Afghanistan , you should be aware that we are in these places aswell , so does that mean we lack the intellectual capacity as well

As for our govenments view on the matter , well they whould like to please the both of them ,

Tucker would not last 2 minuutes in my world.

Well I didn't know that abou the IRA. I didn't know the US was supporting things like that. Even though that is true, I didn't do it. I cannot help what American officials do with their power. Your average American is just trying to live a good life and raise our children. We want peace and prosperity. These British and Canadians who are bashing ALL Americans are wrong.

They need to spend some time here. The stereotype American that most Europeans see on TV is not typical. We don't all live in Hollywood. We are not all fat. We are not all slinging pistols in the streets. It's not a dangerous place unless you go to a dangerous area. Of course like any country there are dangerous areas, but most white suburban areas are very safe. You can walk your dog. You can go to a picnic or a night club. I have never been assaulted without provocation.

We are here for Great Britain if they should need our help. People need to realize that George Bush or bill Clinton are not typical Americans just as Prince Charles is not a typical English man.

I like Ozzy and Judas Priest. I like Iron Maiden.

Tell people that there is no escape from American culture infiltrating your lives. The press is obsessed with America. The whole world is bombarded with America. I know people are sick of it, but It's not my fault. I am a pipe fitter. I am just a regular blue collar guy. Don't hate me because you are sick of Paris Hilton.

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Portugal, Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine (oh, i'm sorry, i think you have been purely touching on Europeans who're a factor of the european, no longer in all threat Europeans themselves). Your final line is purely everyday anti-American crap that i'm useful you have been fed throughout the countless channels. right here is the deal. The U.S. is your buddy. staggering we've got an fool for president. yet we don't continuously have idiots for presidents, and because Bush is going to be long gone in over a 365 days, our next president will in all threat be a solid one. Like a real buddy, the U.S. would in no way ask the U.ok. to truly %. between the E.U. and us. you're making your determination (in case you somewhat have self assurance that this is the two us or them, that's idiotic in itself) and regardless of what you %., we are going to nonetheless be your buddy. Brussels sounds like a grand place to be ruled by however!!!!

Thats just it,we DO get it! A false choice as presented. There is no requirement to be either part of the EU or the 51 st state. The UK should remain what it is good at, being the UK. Why be part of any bloc? Why not just be free and independent?

The EU, why weren't we like the rest of Europe and told them Iraq was their problem? We could have kept saying that whilst selling them equipment until 7/7 step in tipped the balance and make loads of films about how we won the war! I suppose if we did that we would have more in common with America so maybe it is best we keep with EU and just let them sort their own problems out.

OK!! EU condemned us and refused to support us during the Falkland's war. allowed the French..'our EU partners to sell Exocet missiles to the Argies to use on our troops to devastating effect.( remember that????) no course not. they don't teach kids that kind of history at school do they. its called the truth. AMERICA!! solid as a rock by our side in two world wars + openly supported us with recon during the Falklands. even though it placed them in a very awkward position politically . WELL!! i know where my vote goes. I've seen the EU stab Britain in the back during times of trouble and I've seen the damage the open border policy has done to our country you can stuff the cowardly gutless EU right! where the sun don't shine. if you ask me! the EU will be under sharia law in less than 20 years the way they cave in to muslim's. no thanks. America has proved to be a friend. the EU has proved itself a judas.

I will not say that I am on your side or against you but I will answer your questions and comments with a question of my own:

(1) Why do you think we have not joined the Euro ?

(2) Why do you think we might NEVER join the Euro ?

Both question pretty much related to the issues you're raising.

why do we have to choose, why not just be plain old great Britain again, if some of you young ones grew a backbone and got off your asses and made your voice heard ( hey just like you did when someone said a bad word on big brother ) people might not just walk all over you take all your services away and treat you like idiots, i doubt though that you will. you have let things slip too far. as for me il talk closer links with the USA, at least we can understand what their going on about unlike Johnny foreigner

Your generalizations are unfair. Not all Americans think that way.
I never voted for Bush and I cannot wait until he is out of office.
Open your mind up a little more before you say things that are untrue.
