I am looking forward to getting a Maltipoo as I have just moved into a bigger house with a garden. I love all animals and have always wanted a dog of my own. I am from a family of dog lovers and we always kept Standard Poodles. My boyfriend thinks it is crazy to dress pets. I agree to a certain extent, a dog is a pet (almost like a baby) not a doll. I wouldn't put it's hair in bows or get matching outfits or anything. Surely there is nothing wrong with a T-Shirt and a going out coat for the winter though? What do you think?

I think it's alright, just don't over do it. I have a jacket with a hoodie for my min pin/chihuahua mix. She loves it as she gets cold easily with her short hair. She loves to flip the hoodie over her head when she is napping. I make my own hoodies for her. The petstore ones are way too foo foo for my tastes and are always too big for her. I also make my own collars for her too. I do the little beaded ones with neat designs with those cat safety releases on them...I'm always worried something will happen to her becuase she is so small. Best wished to you and your new puppy when you get it =)

Dressing your dog, if not excessively is fine. Why do you think someone (who is making lots of money for it) came up with a clothing line for dogs. Used to be that only coats and sweaters where the thing. Now T-shirts. hats, sunglasses, shoes (yes shoes) pants oh the list goes on and on. Some of these things can be quite pricey as they are listed as designer clothing. They even have little closets with hangers you can get to put the clothes in. So, if you want to buy your new little maltipoo it's own wardrobe, go for it. You would dress your baby wouldn't you?
My daughter started buying clothes for her cocker spaniel when she first got it. Her boyfriend also made fun of her. But guess who always makes sure the dog has her T-shirt on when he takes her out? .....Yep.
I say go for it

Coats for winter, especially for a shorthaired dog in a cold place, I should think would be fairly acceptable to most people. Dressing pets in clothes like weird dresses and stuff ... is really weird, especially those poor little handbag chiwuauas that wear them all the time. That being said, animals in clothes are the cutest things ever, and whenever I see something that would fit my Ambrose (for cheap though lol) I buy it, put it on him, camera at hand, immediately start snapping pictures ... and then ask my self why I wasted my money ... when the item of clothing is in shreds 5 minutes later.

I think there is nothing more obnoxious than making an animal dress like it's a Barbie doll. People who do that are trying to overcompensate for the fact that they don't have kids they can play dress up with in my opinion, so they use their pets as substitute "children". A dog is a dog, not a dress up doll. I have no problem with dogs wearing sweaters in cold weather particularly if they are short-hair breeds but other than that....ugh, no.

Personally, I wouldn't dress mine, but I don't necessarily think it's wrong. Pets are becoming more important in our lives, and I know I would be lost without my dog who is able to be at work with me each day. People like to feel like they're taking care of their pets, and that's fine, as long as it's not hurting them and the pet doesn't mind.

the weird and wonderful ingredient is, some canines love being dressed up. My cousins little canines jumps up and gets all excited whilst my cousin holds up the canines clothing. as long via fact the owner isnt almost forcing it on the canines, and the canines hates the clothing, then its o.k.. If the two the owner and the canines get exhilaration from dressing up, then I dont see something incorrect with a happy animal.

Clothing is not ok - it restricts their movements and hassles them - its ok to dress them up for half an hour for a laugh - but having them walking about in outfits is not comfortable. They are covered in fur and that maintains their body temp.

It's really up to your pet, if they're comfortable in clothes, then go for it, if not, then I wouldn't. The pet knows what's good for them..

I,d say its up to the pet, if it likes it sure, why not, but
if the poor creature hates it, no.
