If it's quite formal I would not wear that. It looks like you're going to a picnic or to the beach. You should try to stick with a solid color. You can still do strapless if you want, just try to make the dress length at or a little below the knee. Whenever in doubt, buy a black silk or stain dress.

Depending on how formal the charity ball is and whether if its in or out doors. the dress is perfect for outdoors but if for an indoor event try it with a nice shawl and it should be fine apart from that be comfortable in what you're wearing and your condidence will shine through and fit you right in doesnt matter what your wearing

i think the dress is lovely and perfect for that occassion, like some people have suggested before id buy a simple black cardie to go with it just in case its a bit chilly in the evening or waiting for a taxi home etc.
ignore the people who say you need to wear something more formal, i think that dress is
formal enough without going over board.
think glamorous 07 had a good idea too with the red shoes

To be honest, women have a free choice when going to charity formal dance things.
They can wear pretty much anything they like as long as they make an effort. For guys its usually black tie.
The dress is perfectly fine.

No, when you goto a Charity Ball that is formal, a summer dress is not the answer, you really need to find a dress that is long and depending on your shape straps or strapless.
You seem to like black, and ebay so here is one that would be good for the dance.

I have been to many of charity balls, and it's not something you want to wear a summer dress to. Trust me.
good luck

As a male i would have to say no as looks a bit more pubby type not conservative enough try something below the knees has straps but obviously not to revelling but rather more dazzling in a way to make yourself stand out.

The dress is really cute but you might want to go with something a little longer and like she said, with straps.

Personally i see it as a casual going out dress, but you could wear it with some black crystal jewleery and a sexy pair of heels.
