And do you answer, and have a conversation with yourself? Or do you think in a way like telling yourself what to do (right now you have to do this) etc?
Is it nuts to talk out loud to no-one regularly?

I talk to myself all the time. I allways have talked to myself and I don't plan to ever stop either. I don't care if people think I'm crazy or whatever. It keeps me sane as crazy as that sounds!
I don't think there is anything wrong with talking to yourself. If you feel comfortable doing it then that's all that matters. There is no right or wrong when it comes to this.

I find it weird but alot of people think it is natural. When I am going through a list, studying, etc. I do talk out loud but no, I'm not holding a conversation. My husband does this alot and it is very spooky. He talks through things such as something that has happened at work and he will talk as the other person and how he expects them to react. The first time I noticed it, I looked out the front window and he was waving his hands and poking the air in front of him and I took a closer look to see if I needed to call the cops and no one was there......He does this pretty often and I still don't call it normal..

I 'talk to myself two ways'. First, there is the 'conversation' that goes on our heads. I'm a very verbal person, so this comes natural to me. I've also been known to talk to myself out loud when I'm deep in concentration. It's like the words just jump from my brain to my mouth.

Strangely enough, my Dad and two siblings do the same thing so I think it's an inherited trait as we are all deep thinkers (nerds in other words).

But seriously, I know the difference between the conversation in my head and voices telling me do something terrible.

I think it's just the way some peoples minds work.

It's natural to talk to yourself.I do it a lot but I believe there are different degrees and stages when one speaks to oneself.

My dad[Thomas] for instance take it to another level. He is a building contracter and he does house estimates and building plans out loud to himself. Then he calls his workers names and tell them what should be done[all while talking to himself].Then he would see a fault in the design[still while talking to himself] and say something like.."Thomas boy,you make a mistake there.Take the plan and try again".

Once he was having a full blown question and answer conversation with himself and I had some friends over who actually thought my dad was talking to them and tried answering. It was hilarious!

The bad part of it however is when he goes of talking with himself about something he want you to do and you have no idea of he really wants you to do it or if he is just talking to himself.

I told my mom it had to be love and nothing else.It definitely had to be love.=)

yeh i admit im guilty of this, and i cant control it. ever since i was a kid i was lonely and had so many problems to deal with that no one at any age should, that i just found comfort in being my own friend. it made things easier if i just talked to myself instead of being a burden and bothering anyone else. as i grew up it became a habit then an obsession that i couldnt get out of. im still like it now and im almost 19. i always find myself talking in my head. its never out loud so you can hear my voice, but like im miming or whispering it. i think ive just got an overactive imagination, but i randomly make up things in my head that i start to believe. i cant control it. and i talk in my head as if its to another person not myself. its really weird and i hate admiting it because i feel so stupid. but its good to know im not the only one, i feel like i should be in a straight jacket at times lol.

I tend to do this when I'm busy and trying to remember everything I need to do. It's not nuts but it is a sign of aging...we need a friendly voice to help us, so we provide our own.

Yeah, I talk to myself, unless I'm mad at myself - that's when I give myself the silent treatment and may even go for days without talking to myself.

Yes I do. All the time (especially when I'm concentrating on something or when something irritates me). I get a lot of funny looks from my sister, though. lol.
