Hi, Almost every shopping cart works from a MySQL database. I'm not too sure if Geocities has that. Their paid sites may but not their free ones. Also, shopping carts are usually written in PHP, so the HTML is often hidden. Most site builders on the hosting services probably can't handle this. Make sure you find out before committing. http://ar3host.com has a couple of shopping carts built in, but no site builder as such. The shopping carts would be up and running but you would need to modify them to suit your needs - logo, headlines etc. Have a look at Cube cart: http://www.cubecart.com/
for a small retailer or Zen Cart for a larger one: www.zen-cart.com/ (Both are free).
You could try a free site at http://at3host.com and move up to a paid one later if things work out. I'd run ebay and your new site in conjunction for a while. If you only have a few products, you can build a little shopping cart with a $40 site builder at http://wysiwygwebbuilder.com. There's a free demo of the web builder, but you have to pay your $40 to get access to the shopping cart feature. There is a demo there under Extensions though. I use WebBuilder for all my sites and I love it. You don't have to learn a single line of HTML, but it would have limited use with Cube Cart and Zen Cart. What you can do with WebBuilder is create individual pages for each item and include a Paypal Buy Now button.
As this answer could go on forever, contact me via my profile if any of the above sound interesting.

Technically you don't need a shopping cart, you can use third party carts and link your items to those.
The one that comes to mind is PayPal, there are others, search on google or similar, you will come up with something that suits.
Be careful that the cart you select allows you to trade in your local currency.

there's 1and1.com which has a business plan for about $10(US) a month. (They also are UK based - 1and1.co.uk)
The plans are billed for in a 6 month billing cycle though. They give you 3 domains with that package, and the'd have all the tools you'd need.

Either one of these is pretty cheap and I think they were rated pretty good...

And it's also important to make sure they have good support and not too much downtime.
