Telnet is a program which allows your computer to communicate with older mainframe computers as if it was a "dumb terminal". Outside of manufacturering business, which still have 30 year old mainframe computers, it is rarely used.

An Intranet is a local "Internet". It is a small network set up to share web sites, etc within a company, school, etc. It is usually restricted to only the people who are within that company or school.
