Listen, it works for you, and it may just be the price you have to pay to stay at a good weight. I know it can be boring and frustrating, but think about how boring and frustrating it is to not move freely, to have tight clothing -- to have absolutely no choice in good clothing, and be forced to make your own, if you gain a lot of weigh. Think about how beyond boring and frustrating heart disease and diabetes are.
One thing you can do is make sure your good food packs the most punch per calorie count -- stuff like pumpkin or orange-colored squash, spinach, broccoli, that sort of thing. And fish. Then you can "save room" for a little splurge. Enjoy it! Don't look at it from an angle of "Oh, I can't have any more!" but rather an angle of "Mmmm, I've got this delicious (and beautiful) little treat!"

Never ever nor ever will--you hit it on the head about thee frustration of it and I think that is why so many finally go off their diet. As one answerer said-everything in moderation and as you know,J, that is the biblical premise.
I never did count calories b ecause it is tedious and takes all the joy out of eating. But sure glad you got to your ideal weight and are holding it. You have to ask if it is worth the frustration of counting the c's and also if you would gain back the weight if you didn't. Simple as that? No pain no gain, aaagh

be a slave to your tape measure instead. If you're working out regularly, your "ideal weight" may not be the same.
Go for the right fit of clothing instead of a number on the scale. I just make sure to balance everything out ,have a really big enjoyable meal one day and eat something a little healthier the next. And STAY BUSY, I'm always skinnier when there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day.

No, I go to Slimming World and you have to actually eat food to lose weight, I've lost over 3 stones since February and eat exactly what I want off the plan including sweets and crisps, no calorie counting necessary just good food, life is far too short to be a slave to calories.

Absolutely NOT!! I share an office with 5 other women and ALL they do is calorie count. Bloody diet obsessed idiots! I used to when I was younger but I was constantly unhappy. Now I dont worry about it, Im at a size and shape I love (Coca Cola bottle shape and a size 16). If I fancy it I'll eat it, if not I wont. Simple.

A slave to the Calorie count? No. I count fat grams and carbs. It is a b**** that we can't enjoy all those yummies and goodies out there. Maybe a juicy Kobe beef steak. Maybe a banana split? How about some nice warm, freshly baked bread with fresh butter.....I am crying out to be fat and just am struggling.......Excuse me while I go to the kitchen for a second..........wait, go on ahead without me, I may be a while.....

If you've kept it off for that long then chances are your 'weight memory' has shifted to accept the weight you are now.
Try eating what you like, your weight 'thermostat' will probably kick in to stop you from gaining more than 5kg at which time it will drop itself down PAST the weight you are now by about 5kg, then rise back to where you started from.

No im not a slave to thew calorie count
I eat what i want and if i gain a little of weight i only have myself to blame which encourages me to exercise.
I also look for fun ways to exercise so its like i get to eat what i want and have fun at the same time. i like tennis and i like swimming, i also do squats and lunges at home whenever i walk past my weights.
That way it doesnt really feel like exercise !!

No, because I am underweight. The only reason I would count them is to make sure I am getting as many as possible. It can be just as frustrating to try to gain weight as it is to try to lose it...
Good Luck!

I always calculate calories, but I don't consider me a "slave".
I just check what I'm eating to keep a balance.
