That's a good question.I think it might be true because it is the person's weight.but they arent moving.so like what you can do to test this is go to like a gym or something and go to a bar and hang onto it,and pull yourself up and kep yourself up without moving,thats dead weight.
also a dead body floats in water becasue the organs are decomosing and create gas.thats why sometimes people get bloated when theyre dead or they have been ded for a while.

If you're limp you are more likely to float, but when alive you're tense, you properly relax you'll float, when you're dead you're fully relaxed so you float
That means the dead body is light in weight and not heavy.
