This is a genuine Q - not about poking the McCanns or suggesting they are guilty or innocent.

But wouldn't it be a good idea to get the campaign manager to do their job promoting finding Maddy and not work as just a spokesperson or behind the scenes?

The fund should distance itself a bit and work independently (on Maddy's behalf) from Kate and Gerry while they sort out the suspect status - that is what I am suggesting here.

THIS Q IS NOT ABOUT THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE FUND OR THE MONEY ITS ABOUT PUBLICITY AND INITIATIVES TO FIND MADDY THAT THE FUND WAS SET UP TO DO. THEY HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING RECENTLY IN TERMS OF FINDING MADDY

Super question QuickBrownFox!
Hope they are doing just that...
Its just that the media, being what it is, will focus on Kate & Gerry which is the more scandalous topic...
On second thoughts, that may just well be...whats needed for the campaign to focus peacefully on Madeleine without the negative media glare...
A star for you!

It has been report that the McCanns have sort legal advise to use the fund for their defense..... this is wrong, they should have to hand over the fund to missing children's charity if it turns out they were involved, as people gave the money to help find a missing child, it was not given for a child that had already died.

Until the matter is resolved it should be ran by a independent governing body and in no way should it be used for their defense, we did not donate money for what could be Maddie's killer/s to use to defend their actions, they should seek their own money for defense!

The McCanns have no signing power and never have. That is why there are directors. My understanding is that they would have to submit a request and have it approved by the voting members no matter what the reason is.

They are following the "Best Practices" Guidelines that are in place for charities accordingly to their website although technically they are not a charity and I did take the time to look it up and read it. According to that NO family member can just write themselves a cheque.

As for distancing the fund from the ongoing investigation...I personally think it's impossible. The fund is tied to this whole situation and it would be hard to move out from under the shadow of suspicion regardless.

ADDED: Statistically, in cases of stranger abduction the child is dead within 72 hours of being missing. And at the end of the day, whether you believe the parents are involved or not, you have to face the grim reality that the probability of finding the child alive at this point are slim.

I'm with you there, they should get someone who is not directly related to Maddie to run the fund.

I'm going off the subject slightly, as your question was about the fun, but you mentioned their defence. At the moment there is no need for them to get defence, they have not been formally charged with anything. I know a lot of people think they are guilty, however until they are charged they have no need for defence. In spanish law, being a suspect isn't the same as being a suspect over here, it entitles the person or persons involved more rights than a witness.

I'm in personnal belief that there is more going on than we know. but untill we know i'll keep an open mind!

Absolutely. I agree with Beaty on this. It is TOTALLY unethical and MORALLY wrong that the two main suspects in a case of the disappearance of someone should be in control of the fund to find them. It is worse than obscene. We must all sign the online petition, regardless of whether we are "for" or "against" the McCanns. They have as good as admitted that they think she is dead anyway when they wanted to use her fund money to pay for there defence. Thank goodness public opinion showed them that the British public would not stand for that and that it was totally inappropiate.

I doubt they will ever find her body, Gerry will have seen to that. With the DNA evidence from the forensic scientists undisputed, I feel the money should go into a fund to search for other kids, or vulnerable kids.

If it were my child I know I would be right there on top of it all to try and find my baby. I don't know if the McCanns had anything to do with Maddy's disappearance, I hope they didn't. I just hope no matter who or what happened that they find that little girl soon.

i keep on saying "get the professionals in" a group of people trained to do this sort of job and find Madeleine....I'm sure there is more than enough money in the fund to pay for top rate investigators, use the money for what it was donated.

I agree with you. I also think the 'Find Madeleine Fund' should NOT be steered by the McCanns relatives or anybody else who knows them. It should of been setup by an independent committee who does not know any of the McCanns. It is too fishy for my liking. Family involved with a Fund, no way, it should not be allowed.

a infant is allowed to be out of the placement of place of abode for as much as yet no longer previous 40 two days ie: hoilday or wellness middle, and then the determine/gaurdian would now no longer declare, yet im valuable that isn't a controversy in this unhappy case.
